There is more to employment/unemployment than just your current situation.
In the UK the fuller your employment record the fuller will be your pension on retirement.

Retirement on minimum pension is no fun. I am part of an organisation that offers aid, both emergency and long term to those who are struggling financially. Sadly the financial aspect affects individuals more than just the amount of coins in the pocket.

The USA's Social Security (our closest "equivalent" to a government pension) will deplete soon, I just looked and an article says it will deplete by 2033. So about 10 years and with the declining birthrate, it isn't going to come back. So recieving retirement payments from the government doesn't really matter here (other than the fact that we still pay SS even thpugh we will never see a dime from it). My situation reflects what a lot of us are going through. Although a lot of us could take time off, it will create an employment gap in which every employer will ask about and, more likely than not, it will set you back in your career.

And, with stagnated wages over the past 40 or so years while the cost of living rises, no one can really afford to take a break either.

Oh yeah, and our healthcare is tied to employment as well. I could continue, but we are really screwed on this side of the pond lol.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

I see all the world problems in seconds in front of me and how to fix them but to fix them, it will prove how bad designed our society truly is.

Fixing poverty for example is impossible as 'someone has to be ripped off' for things to be cheaper. fix that, costs rise even higher.

Get rid of robots to create jobs, costs rise again.

Now you understand my issue on fixing this. Economics needs re-invented.

Move jobs from china back to our home land, costs rise again.

Conclusion: our whole system was designed on the basis of slavery, hence why a truly 'equal' system is breaking us. It needs re-invented to the point workers in profitable companies get paid more and keep monthly bills lower by capping what these companies charge. And lower rates for seniors.

^so many companies overcharge and it adds to everyones suffering. We also have companies that use 'people' as pawns. Also replacements of workers is running rapidly, no walmart near me has all self checkouts units......

^i thought we were trying to create jobs....create 60k, cause 400k to lose = a deficit in jobs.

Chain order of creating products;

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10

^ 1-2 has to a make a profit, 2-3, 3-4 and onwards, at 10 is the finished product at the store = price

^poor choices of locations of these increase travel costs, shipping delays etc and if too many overcharge in that chain order it effects every single consumer dropping the weekly profits of the person. Currently for many it's a deficit. plus the random events of needing house repairs, new phones/other tech that can break. costs rack up.

^who sets these costs, we do. OR the saying "We can sell this higher and they will pay it, 5% here, 15% there, 40% here...." it all made living costs higher, to make even more? lets lay off 50k people, profits are everything.

See our society is screwed to the max. "how do you fix a system that was broken from day 1?"

i'm not an accountant i just follow the maze backwards to find logic and motives.
