I once was planning on getting tattoos when i was around 18.. I went through that stage of my life.. and passed it without getting inked.. even though i had the money for it.. I'm now 25.. I still love my tattoo ideas i had planned on getting, maybe one day i might do it. I just don't see the point of putting myself through all that hassle just to get it recolored in 5-15 years or w.e

Generally, when I get a tattoo done, I let it sit for a month or two, then go in to get another touch up once the skin has finally healed. My first tattoo from 5 years ago is still as vibrant as ever, with only one touch up 3 weeks after it was done. If you want the colour to last, it's best to a touch up once it's healed, and you need to be sure to take really good care of it while it's healing, or else you'll lose a lot of ink.

I still also moisturize my tattoos daily after I get out of the shower, which also helps in keeping the colour.
