Just finished Ball Lightning. Interesting take on the true nature of ball lightning. Now im on page 8 of Salvation by Peter F. Hamilton. Looking back, the idea of an alien warlock in Season of the Witch by David Golemon is one I havent seen in all the scifi books ive read. I could only find the Marvel character Warlock in google search but hes not a warlock as in a magician but rather a robotic alien. Now I will wait a year or so for Supernova Era by Cixin Liu and The Redemption of Time by Baoshu to come out in paperback, im not paying $40 including tax for these. I might buy Invasion by Mercedes Lackey tomorrow, then I will only need World Divided and Revolution to finally own all 5 books.

edit to add ^ Abhorsen rings a bell. I think my eldest son had that series and I read them too....a long time ago since he went to university several years ago and has now left home.

The Dead Stars by Adam Christopher is coming out February 11 2025. Glad I haven't read the previous 2 in the trilogy, I like to read a series all in one go. His superhero noir duology was pretty good, interesting mix of scifi/steampunk/noir/fantasy.
