If a celebrity genuinely cares about a particular issue and isn't just doing it for publicity, it can be good for celebrities to "get on their soapbox" in some cases.

A great example is Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.
He came from a poor background and relied on school meals, so he did his bit to make sure under-privileged kids are getting fed... even during school holidays.

It's something he had experience of, he was in a position to do something about it, and it worked.

Conversely, those that do it for recognition are just vile opportunists.

There's that old saying "put ur money where ur mouth is".

I've never heard of marcus rashford before but he evidently did "put his money where his mouth is" and I very much appreciate him for helping out.

I don't appreciate the likes of the alysia millano getting all up in peoples business making orders and demands while fashioning a knitted mask with holes in it, condemning anyone and everyone that doesn't fall to their knees and give allegiance to her and her friends. She hasn't been a celebrity since idk when and she didn't "put her money where her mouth is". She just yelled and cried and screamed that someone else should fix the problem.

I appreciate real scientists and real activists. I don't like fake scientists or fake activists.

I like honesty and trying to make things better. I don't like trickery and burning shet down.

^ I never liked Steven hawking. He was one of the first genius fools broken by the code and fallen into the fictional realities where everything fictional is real and real doesn't exist. I think Steven hawking was a glitch brain.

Could you elaborate?
Broken by the code? Fictional realities? The real doesnt exist?

I think in some instances, their platforms can be used for good. It can elevate social issues people face and don't have a voice to speak up etc but it's a fine line to walk.

If they're projecting their own views and opinions then that can often be problematic but should they give their platform to someone who has real experience of something / a particular issue, then that's when it can be powerful.

This is a good take.

Without diving too much into the topic I'll provide my TLDR opinion (I enjoy reading this thread, but I could talk about this subject for days)...

I believe celebrities are given their voices almost entirely by the public's perception of them, in the artificial hierarchy that we've (much of society) established between celebrities and non-famous people. Playing off of what Joel said, I think that the ideal scenario involves celebrities 'passing the torch' of knowledge and influence to professionals of said topic at hand. Obviously, much easier said than done...and in reality I don't think this is going to happen with celebrity culture progressively getting worse with fame and ego.

I know u and everyone here thinks I'm an idiot, but Idc. Get ready, cos I'ma blow ur mind!

There's this thing called duality. It's like the left and the right side of ur brain. Its like ur left and right fists in a fight. Its like ur left and right legs in a race. You need them both to win but they operate differently. Ya can't tie them together.... ya can't tie your feet together and win a race....

Ya need art and science.

Steven hawking was clearly stuck in the art, Alice in wonderland, fantasy world. He lost touch of reality and that's what I mean when I say "broken by the code" or "glitch brain"... when ya think the art is real*

I was never protesting against 6/2(3)=9. Ya need the art 6/2(3)=9 and the science 6/2(3)=1 and ya need to know how and when to apply them. Steven hawking didn't have that ability. He was stuck in the square world

Steven hawking wanted to tie the world up into a nice little neat black and white equation, but we live in a world full of colour.

Language is art..... we need the art in order to explain the science. Ya almost can't have one without the other. Art is as real as science o.0

but its really art :p

Science is the chaos.
Art is the order.
We need to keep our art in order to explain the chaos.

When celebrities and others are breaking my art/language (english) it really hurts my heart and soul.
Dear God, please send the competition, feels like there ain't any.

I've worked out what the soul is too BTW.....

If you imagine a computer, u might think its made up of hard drive, processor, ram, video card, software etc. Not me, I think of it more like code and hardware, art and science. We've got this strange thing with computers though..... interfaces. GUI. Code, which helps u interact with the code and hardware o.0

We have our left and right brain but we also have the penal glade which operates as an interface. The penal glade is like our operating system. Religion, whatever religion it may be is a type of operating system. Some people literally have their penal glade switched off. The penal glade is the operating system, religion and soul. Your soul (penal glade) will never leave u. I think lots of peoples penal glade is very very sad because the left and right of the brain doesn't talk to it - their soul is sad.

A lot of people don't have much going on in their penal glade. It might be like a level thing where one unlocks it at level 10 art and science or something, idk exactly but lots of people don't have an operating system for their mind (I'm not talking about atheism, Buddhism is a religion.... I'm talking about animalism). I think the penal glade is like the GUI where dreams are created, where you can literally see images in your mind....

I haven't really worked this part out yet........ but I'm sure, the soul is like an "operating system" between art and science..... and the "operating system" is stored in the penal glade.

Yeeee yeee, I know I went far off topic. Just ban me again u scumbags.

I think everyone should be given the same voice as a celebrity (because we who aren't ultra wealthy like politicians and celebs) are still members of society.

Now speaking specifically of censorship, no one should be censored especially if they disagree with the opposite political party and their ideas. If only one voice is allowed on the platforms then the masses will be conditioned to believe that one voice is the source of truth simply because there isn't another voice.

Unfortunately it is a great recurring human flaw to think that we know more than our fellows about a subject with only the smallest bit of education. But the kicker is, we often don't know enough to know that we don't know enough about a subject. This is the case in all walks of life, celebrities are just paid more attention to so their uneducated opinions are able to go further than that of the odd fellow down at the bar.

Are their opinions any more valid than anyone else's? No. But do I blame them? Also no.
