I've never been there Scouse, but I want to go there for a visit.

Most of all I want to go to Anfield to watch Liverpool play at home and just experience the action.

Take an anti stab vest and hard hat.
Don't take any offers of a swig from a 'Whiskey' bottle particularly if it looks a little foamy.

I'm sure your just exaggerating ToP BaSS.

I watched this match live and remember it like it was yesterday. I remember crying like how I cried when Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson. When Michael Thomas took the ball up through the middle, I remember the commentator saying "its all up for grabs now". The rest is history.

From Wikipedia

The final match of the 1988–89 English Football League season was contested on 26 May 1989, between Liverpool and Arsenal, at Liverpool's Anfield ground. It was a match between the top two teams in the First Division, and the teams were close enough on points for the match to act as a decider for the First Division Championship. Arsenal needed to win the game by at least two goals to take the title, while Liverpool enjoyed home advantage and had won the FA Cup the previous weekend.

Despite being labelled underdogs, Arsenal won 2–0, with a last-minute goal scored by Michael Thomas, giving Arsenal their ninth First Division title and denying Liverpool the chance of a second Double.

The match is considered to be one of the most dramatic conclusions to a league season in the history of the English game.

----------------------------------------------------

My bedroom was covered in Red at the time besides my ambition of being an All Black.

I remember clearly Steve McMahon, the player you have meet, playing in the match.

And although Arsenal won, it was a case of paying homage to the opposition for winning against all odds.

Edit: I just found some cool YouTube videos of the highlights of this match

The second video in particular shows how this defines one of the greatest climaxes to the English football season in history.

I did not know that.

But lets take a look at the Liverpool line up.

GK 1 Zimbabwe Bruce Grobbelaar
CB 2 England Gary Ablett
RB 4 Scotland Steve Nicol
CB 6 Scotland Alan Hansen
LB 3 Republic of Ireland Steve Staunton
RM 7 Republic of Ireland Ray Houghton
CM 5 Republic of Ireland Ronnie Whelan (c)
CM 11 England Steve McMahon
LM 10 England John Barnes
CF 8 Republic of Ireland John Aldridge
CF 9 Wales Ian Rush

and you had players on the bench like

DF 12 England Barry Venison
FW 14 England Peter Beardsley

Managed by Kenny Dalglish

We are talking about real heros that you will never see again in an English football club.

And say what you want about Bruce Grobbelaar. I know he was paid by organized criminals to let goals in, I've seen the footage, but he was arguably the best goal keeper of all time.

And just to add, my mum went to England, Scotland and France for a holiday about 6 months ago and she remembers Liverpool and Merseyside as being one of the highlights of her holiday.

But I know Liverpool for its famous football club and being the home of the Beatles. The Beatles were before my time but they and their music are timeless.

I remember the day John Lennon died. My blind grandfather came up to me and said "do you know who John Lennon is?"

I said I am just starting to listen to his music, because he had just bought out songs like "Woman" and "Starting over".

My grandfather said John Lennon was killed 10 minutes ago. He always listened to the National Programme, a radio station in NZ. It was kind of like hearing something on the internet today, live.

To this day I take the death of John Lennon personal. And I understand why Mark Chapman can not ever be released from prison. It's to protect his personal safety. He killed a man who only wanted to say "lets give peace a chance".

RIP John Lennon. Born and raised in Liverpool.

Is there really a pool of liver in Liverpool?

I've never been there but I dont think so.

Wiki says

Other origins of the name have been suggested, including "elverpool", a reference to the large number of eels in the Mersey. The name appeared in 1190 as "Liuerpul", and it may be that the place appearing as Leyrpole, in a legal record of 1418, refers to Liverpool.
