My latest tipple:
Shepherd Neame Brewery in Kent (claim to be Britain's oldest Brewer, founded in 1698)
"Late Red"
Described as an Autumn hop ale, it was indeed quite a shade of auburn and had a nice fruity/spicy tang to it. Not too strong at 4.5% alch vol. Would recommend it as a good Winter ale.
I heard somewhere that back then young kids would get drunk and it was socially accepted. Just show you how time and cultures change though out history.
