RuneScape will run at a high framerate but can be capped in the graphical settings. It just isn't one of those games which benefits from superfast reaction times. I would also rather keep the GPU cool and quiet while doing any activity with low intensity.
I'd say it's worth investing in an ultrawide 1440p display if you can. A good monitor will last for many years and this is a likely 'sweet spot' for productivity and gaming. I would otherwise take a 27 inch 2560x1440 monitor which offers the same width and more height than a 29 inch ultrawide at 2560x1080.

I read loads of reviews and eventually decided this ticked all the boxes - IPS, not curved.
It's the cheaper end of panels at that size but gets good reviews.
I know some recommend a curved monitor at that size but I just prefer flat.

I have 3 monitors plus a laptop. I have them on a dual and single adjustable stands. One is, I think, 30", one is 24" and vertical, then just a small 18" one. I'll use my laptop screen, too, bit typically I just keep it closed.
I may add more, lmao. Docking stations are needed for this setup, though.
And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known
