I do not understand the statement that MTX is unethical. I so not see how the ethics of the issue are defined.

It's unethical to have a whole game with all of the content visible in the campaign yet have it inaccessible unless you pay x amount of money. As I stated in a previous comment, imagine paying $30.00 to create an rs account and you go to the new Tutorial Island but if you want to leave that Island you have to pay $10 for access to Lumbridge, then pay another $10 to access Draynor, then another $10 for Port Sarim, and so on. It's unethical because you pay for a whole game yet only 1% of it is accessible.

You may it like it but i still do not understand the claim that payment of that type is unethical.

A friend asked me to check out a little kid's game for his 5 year old daughter. I did. I got up to level 3, I think it was, and then had to pay to continue on. I paid the price and discovered to level up the next time I had to pay, again. This is outrageous for a kid's game. It's like: Introduction to stealing parents credit card 101.

It is the way of much of the retail business industry these days - pointless to target the Game Industry

Buy a car and you have the options to buy the upgraded models instead of the basic. The you have a number of different $$$ sapping options for buying a vast variety of upgrade packages - part leather/full leather - surround cams - tire upgrades - Gee Wizzzz entertainment center - fluffy dice etc.
It is the way of the world - no point in crying naively about it and calling "lack of ethics".

@Top Bass, it is unethical though. It's just bad practice to do your customers like that. The thing about a car vs a game is you pay in whole for the car with the extra things. A game is complete when you buy it, having to pay to access individual parts of that complete game is dumb.

The car is complete when you buy it. Also, just like the car, you do not have to "pay to access individual parts" , they are optional extras - purchasable additions if you so wish, there is nothing forcing you to partake of the offerings.

Just saying something is "unethical" or "bad practice" because you dislike or disagree with something does not make it so.
