For me, dreams do interfere with memories. Some of them were so cool or scary that they left an impact, a lasting memory just like anything IRL. I also had a brief run of vivid and interactive dreams and I want nothing to do with it.
It seems fun, but not for me. I would rather go to sleep and just wake up in the morning, without 3 hours of annoyance and frustration.
I can only imagine someone with long term exposure could get very confused. They could also have a lot of fun in their dreams. 'Flying' just above ground level is sweet, and that is something I like to do in dreams apparently.
----> Back to Vegas and the power of wanting to believe. There was all that added information of the redacted bodycam, FBI involvement, spy cameras, 'men in black', the family hiding, etc.
There was also a new video that showed an alien crouching, with incredible detail. That was supposed to be the Vegas alien.
For about 10 seconds I abandoned everything I knew and thought this is actually real. Then as the animation continued, it was obviously CGI. But in those 10 seconds, I totally disappointed myself. I should be 'above' that sudden turn of belief, but it's just natural I guess.
I try to be aware of my own behavior, to learn from it and stop myself from getting tricked. TBH it is difficult. Anything is possible.
