"When you wake up every day, you have two choices.
You can either be positive or negative; an optimist or a pessimist.
I choose to be an optimist. It's all a matter of perspective."

Dictionary.com's definition of
complacency
- “a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect, or the like; self-satisfaction or smug satisfaction with an existing situation, condition, etc.”
Mix it up, always be learning, the only true wisdom is to know that you know nothing.
Change happens when the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change.

In my teen years, whenever I tested the house rules, my Mom would say, "My house, my rules. You don't like it? You know where the door is. When you get your own place, you can make your own rules."
Those words came back to haunt her, years later, when she sold me the house with her in it. As soon as all the papers were signed, I turned to her, gave her a big grin and said, "
My
house." Her eyes got as big as saucers when she realized what I meant.
I let her think about that for a couple days. I walked into the living room to put her mind at ease. She beat me to the punch and asked in a very serious tone of voice, "Are you really going to change the rules? Which ones are you going to change? What will happen to me?" I gave her a big smile, a little chuckle, and a big hug. "I was only kidding. I'm not changing any rules, everything remains the same. And out of respect to you, you still rule the roost, as always."
