Here I was on the computer playing wormate #4 on leader board when down came a spider, not nice and lady like, it was legs wiggling everywhere. I let out a little scream and went and got the fly spray, when I arrived back my worm was a mass of treats and the spider was no where to be seen. So I sprayed everywhere, literally everywhere over everything several times over. The laptop was a glistening sheen of spray. I don't know how I can sit over there now :|

This got me to thinking, around a month ago I was in bed, drifting of to sleep when I felt something in my hair, I grabbed it and threw it on the floor. I turned on the light and it was a dazed spider, so I finished it off - that spider must have gotten into my head in the same fashion as the spider in my above story.

There is a huge gaping hole in my ceiling half a metre away from the computer table and this is where I believe spiders come from, I have never seen them enter through this gapping hole, I am suspicious of it.

I don't like killing spiders, I feel bad for doing so, I just can't touch them, I just can't go near them. I just wish they'd stay out of my home and then they'd be safe.

Plug the hole and see what happens.

If I plug the hole, which I've thought about doing would mean the leaking water would trail somewhere else and start a new hole.

I really wish I could, get a plank of wood and nail over it.

The landlords tried to fix that leak over the years he hasn't succeeded.

Ye I think you've bigger problems than spiders

The leak is either a pipe or its coming from outside. I expect the landlord hasn't made any real attempt to fix it over the years.

I don't want to be evicted, I want to stay here, I like the area and the schools. Here in NZ housing is a huge problem. And it only leaks when it rains hard. Certain rains it doesn't come in. Not sure if that's to do with wind direction or what??

My sister-in-law had a problem with their flat roof over their sitting room. Like yours, rain only came in sometimes, they think it depended on the wind direction. They tried for a couple of years to get it repaired but eventually they had to have the whole roof replaced. They own their own home so getting repairs done wasn't a problem but it was more expensive than if they could have found the exact spot that was leaking.

I've seen horror movies about spiders, spiders everywhere...eek!

I don't fear spiders, I just give them lots of room. They kill bugs. What I have in my house are Ambush Spiders. They don't spin a web, but hide out in dark places waiting for their prey to show up.

We had a spider problem when we first moved into our apartment. One spider even crawled onto my foot like it was no big deal while I was working. Now I typically wear shoes inside even though it's work from home, and we've seen a few ginormous spiders in the apartment every once in a while.

Luckily... most of them are orb weavers. It's terrifying, but typically not dangerous (I think). I hate killing them too and make an effort to not kill them... catch them with cups or get them to walk on papers and quickly walk them outside. One of them moved when I was trying to catch them with the cup and it took some of its legs. It was still able to move when I put it outside, but I wasn't sure how bad the damage was. Another one was going for the bed... we need to sleep... so we made a hasty and difficult decision. It was almost a year ago and I still feel pretty bad about it.

We don't have deadly spiders in the UK (although some will very occasionally give you a bit of a nasty nip).

I'm not bothered about them at all - if I see one indoors and it's easy to catch I'll get it and put it outside. If it's up high I'll just ignore it.

Many times I've gone to bed with a spider trundling around on the ceiling but I totes can't be arsed to chase it around last thing at night so I'll look for it the next morning. Usually they've vanished by then.

They are pretty creepy and alarming things to look at - up close - but they simply don't push my personal Panic Button. Unlike wasps ......

I'd seriously hate to live somewhere where there's a gaping hole in the ceiling. I'd be thinking maybe there's rats living in the rafters or perhaps some other horrid critter about to invade my space.
