I watched one of the best things I've seen on TV in a long time last night, the first instalment of a new three part documentary by Peter Jackson...
The Beatles: Get Back
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9735318
It's about The Beatles planning and putting on a rare live appearance that is also being filmed and recorded for a live album.
Over 60 hours of previously unseen material was found and used to make this (no it's not 60 hours long) and the footage has been restored so well that it looks brand new, like it could have been filmed last week. It's absolutely stunning.
It's all done as a "fly on the wall" style documentary, no narrator, a few titles when necessary, but mostly just "The Fab Four" writing, planning, rehearsing and occasionally arguing.
I can't recommend this highly enough. Even if you're not a huge Beatles fan it's still a fascinating look at the way musicians write and perform.
I rarely do this but....
10/10.
It's that good, can't wait to watch episode two.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
