I've restarted Breath of the Wild like three times now. Each time I've gotten bored, but this time I want to slog through it before the release of the second.
Perhaps the issues I have with the first will be alleviated in the sequel. Such as but not limited to:
- The lack of music
- Equipment breaking
- Lack of traditional dungeons
- Far too open
- A lot of areas feel far too empty
- The cooking
- The lack of fishing (bombs don't count)
I'm totally with you on all of those points.
While I understand the logic behind the music, or lack-there-of, Zelda has always been known for it's amazing soundtrack. Sucks that it was limited to towns, boss/mini boss battles, divine beasts (which I saw a cool video on, about how there's actually morse code in the divine beast music), and Hyrule Castle. (which features the best song out of all Hyrule Castles).
Equipment breaking was an interesting choice, but I was able to deal with it. I do wish that the Master Sword and Biggoron Sword (the one you get from the OoT amiibo) didn't need to recharge/break. (The Master Sword does take forever to break once you've completed the Trial of the Sword though.)
I absolutely loved the shrines but the divine beasts were really repetitive.
The game features a lot of fan service, and rewards you for exploring, as it's super cool to visit many of the areas that you had visited in previous Zelda games, but I wish there was a bit more than some irrelevant side quests, korok puzzles and shrines. Definitely hoping BOTW2 fills the world up some more, especially with what I'd assume would be the lack of shrines. More settlements/cities would be nice. Maybe the ability to go underwater and underground? Inside mountains?
