At one point in time there were 3 men claiming to be the pope at the same time. They all excommunicated eachother. One of the many names for this period was 'the Vatican standoff'.

Tic Tacs are advertised as sugarfree. Despite that, they are 90% sugar. This is because there are regulations in place stating that food with less than 0.5grams sugar per serving have 0 grams of sugar and are thus sugarfree. The serving size of a Tic Tac is 1 and you guessed it, 1 Tic Tac weighs less than 0.5grams.

The longest war without casualties (or even shots fired) lasted 335 years and was between the Dutch and the Isles of Scilly. During the English Civil war, the Dutch navy was recruited for support. When a damaged Dutch ship arrived at the Isles of Scilly & were denied repairs, they declared war and eventually left without firing a single shot. It was then forgotten until 1985.

Bonus one:
There is 1 known surgery with 300% mortality. Yes, you got this right - 1 surgery where 3 people died.
In a time before anesthetics, a good surgeon was a fast surgeon, and Robert Liston was one of the fastest. His most famous surgery is one where he amputated a leg within 2.5 minutes. In his enthusiasm he sadly also removed the fingers of his assistant. Both the patient and assistant died afterwards from gangrene. During the surgery he also sliced the coat of a spectator, who fainted and died of shock.

I have the craziest, most honest fact ever, i feel i really must share this fact with the world...

- Samora Kiba actually put this topic into my head a few weeks ago with some random pm messages involving strange but factually true stuff which had me wondering "wtf have i got myself into here" thoughts and at the same time also thinking "wow, so interesting"

I then asked her for permission to use her idea in a thread, she said "feel free"

I thought nothing much about taking her idea until the day i logged in and found this thread pinned, since then i have felt a bit like a fraud.

So in reality, this great thread should belong to Samora, not my devious topic stealing arse =(
