Your heartbeat synchronizes to the beat of the music you're listening to. That's why, when calming down or relaxing, you should listen to soft music with a slow beat, not to heavy metal, rap, hard rock or any other kind of music with a fast beat, loud and noisy. In relaxation therapy soft, easy listening music is played low and in the background. Think of elevator music. Why do you think the music is soft, flowing. You may think it's boring, but there is a reason for it. If you have to take the elevator, it calms you down on your way to work, on your way to a meeting, or having to face your Boss, perhaps. The longer the elevator ride the more calming effect it has on you.

Digestion begins in your mouth. Chew you food about 25 times before swallowing. Saliva contains amylase that breaks down complex carbohydrates (starches) into sugars which you body can more easily absorb. Lingual Lipase is also present in saliva, which breaks down fats. You teeth masticates the food so you can taste it with a fuller flavor and aids the stomach in the continuing digestive process. The less you chew your food, the harder your stomach has to work to digest it, using up necessary energy.

Nice thread for glue this week.

Enjoy.

"OMG" usage can be traced back to 1917.

So OMG I had no idea. :P

High heels were originally worn by men.

I know I wore some back in the 1970's. :P

The moon is (slowly) slowing the Earth's rotation.

Every one hundred years, the moon adds approximately 1.4 milliseconds to a day. While this may be minuscule, it does add up: When dinosaurs roamed the planet, days were 23 hours long, according to NASA.

If you draw a circle 1 metre around a tennis ball, the circumference is 6m longer than the ball's.

If you draw a circle 1 metre around the earth, the circumference is still only 6m longer than the Earth's.
