Facebook has changed it's corporate name to Meta as part of a major rebrand.
What you all think?
For me it sounds stupid. Still be FaceBook to me no matter what.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Thursday that Facebook the company is changing its name to Meta to reflect its growing focus on the metaverse. “From now on, we're going to be the metaverse first, not Facebook first,” Zuckerberg said at the company's annual Connect conference Thursday.
Its a load of nonsense and management speak. Just changing a name doesn't change what a thing is. The idea of the Metaverse seems to be a way to gather even more information about its users. It sounds rather sinister to me.
I don't see why this is newsworthy at all.
It wasn't a big story when Google changed name to Alphabet. Or countless other companies founding a new parent company under another name. It won't affect anyone in any way. Just legal and financial circumstances that change.
I dont really care what its called, but like I said on another thread, I always thought Facebook was a dumb name.
Years ago it was a good way for me to connect with people I hadn't seen for many years, and I can still use it for that purpose, admittedly less and less.
It is helpful to have an account so some fake 'non person' can't steal your identity and pretend to be you.
But yeah, I'd rather voice my opinions on rs forums than on fb.
Still the same old social networking organisation designed to steal and sell everybody's data. Wonder if that is the reputation which Zuckerberg is trying to sweep under the rug. Also the reason I refuse to purchase any Oculus VR device.
Low on bank space?

Well I'm glad you said that bro. I thought I was the only one on these forums that agreed with me.
