Personally I want a son or daughter clone of myself, that would be pretty cool. I'd volunteer for my DNA to be tested out for the first human cloning trials for sure.

in 2018, the first successful cloning of primates using SCNT was reported with the birth of two live female clones, crab-eating macaques named Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua.[15][16][17][18][19]

Very cool recent news that proves human cloning is ever growing to be a realistic possibility. We can clone dogs and cats already, so scientists have experience with cloning. Remember, keep the politics out of this thread.

No, I wouldn't donate my DNA for clones if their organs were going to be forcibly taken from them. That's a whole person who doesn't deserve to die and live their natural lifespan.

Advocates for reproductive cloning believe that parents who cannot otherwise procreate should have access to the technology.[39]

So human cloning would be quite useful for soldiers who can't otherwise procreate because of injuries sustained in war. I'd call a male or female clone of myself my son or daughter. What would you call your clone?

Thoughts on human cloning guys?

Surely by cloning you wouldn't be having a son or daughter, you'd be having a "you". ?

I've never thought long about it but gut reaction is I don't like the idea of it much at all.
Experimentation for the sake of experimentation.

For the purposes of reproduction we already have IVF, surrogacy and adoption. Wouldn't it be better to give a decent life to one of the many kids who don't have a parent(s) - there's plenty of them all over the world.

I don't doubt it'd be eye-wateringly expensive so only available to the super-rich. Just imagine a whole tribe of Kim Jong-uns running around the place. Lovely.

People would clone to harvest organs. You need a heart or a kidney to live, I feel people would clone themselves to live longer.. I just remembered that series on Netflix about cloning people without their knowledge, what I watched I enjoyed.
If fat means flavour then I'm ******* delicious!

I think the population is high enough as it is.

The World is struggling to survive these days. To have Clones too would just tip it over the edge and we will end up with Countries just out to kill off people so the rest could survive.

Also Nature has a way of fighting back if you mess with it.

1 thing that would worry me is. Say for exapmple we allowed cloning of ourselves for organs etc. How would you harvest them as it is murder if you kill someone. I just think it won't happen as it opens up tooooooo many issues.

So I'm against it really. I see no point in it.

In the future I can how ever see facilities growing organs in test tubes or what ever. That is different to cloning and might be ok.
