I thoroughly enjoyed all films, so if I am able to I would like to give it a go.
Do you think being putting LOTR into a series they will be able to give a more in-depth view of the story?
I recently finished GOT, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I do feel they could have added a lot more information, episodes into the storyline without dragging it on. I feel at times the story they were telling at the time often abruptly finished. So I feel they could end up doing this with LOTR or it could be the other way and be dragged out.
I loved the movies on Blu-Ray awesome quality if I do say so myself.
I also have the book all 1,700 pages of it. I've yet to read and I've had it years. I want too but I know fine well I'll have sleepless nights reading it and getting to a good bit to put the book down for the night. So for now I'll wait till Winter.
I'm not sure how I feel about the series. I'll be looking for the old actors that were in the movies. I don't think it will be for me really. I will watch first 1 to see if it gets my heartrate going and make the call then.
The movies were possibly the best adaptation of a classic book ever made, everything worked so well. Great director and an outstanding cast ... not to mention a huge budget: $281 million.
The TV series will have to be something special to live up to the movie and of course the original books.
The good news is that they're throwing a
lot
of money at the TV series... they've already spent a reported $250 million on the rights alone, and it's estimated by some that if they make 5 seasons as planned it could hit $ one billion .
I had a look on IMDB to see if I knew any of the cast and the only name I recognised was Lenny Henry.
I hope it succeeds, there was a fair chunk of the story left out of the films and a series will give them plenty of time to include everything.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

I actually saw an article this morning which mentioned $450M is being spent on the first season, which is absolutely crazy considering all 3 movies were only £281M!!
Very keen for this TV series!

Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.

Lord of the Rings Series coming to your TV soon.
Your thoughts.
Is this something that interests you?

I hope you watched the extended versions of LOTR?
As for GoT, I agree a lot more episodes/seasons could've been added to the show. Even HBO who funded the show offered the creators/directors more money to make the story last longer (probably because GoT was their most popular and profitable show ever), but there's word out there the directors were "sick of GoT and wanted to move onto other projects". Shame really - but we have the planned prequels to look forward to!
If you haven't seen it already, I'd recommend watching "The Witcher" also. Season 2 comes out in October (I think?).
