I never said I find someone's user name offensive. Fifi did.
I said if anyones name is offensive then Jagex will deal with it.
I'm not discussing the " other word " Thats how it is. Sorry if you wanted more from me but nope not going to happen. You may have missed 1 of my posts several pages back.
lol I'm scared to post in case Tuffty realises I've a potentially offensive name and bans me
in fact...
I was once followed ingame and berated for having a sexist name and also pmed by said user who used rather foul language
but conversely
when I got 99 summoning on a double xp weekend I got a pm from a jmod gratsing me and also saying I had a cool name
Come on lay off Tuffty, he has his reasons and they are legitimate like a lot of other people.
The world is full of weird, strange, wonderful, lovely, perplexed etc reasons why people feel the way they do. I feel you need to let it go and move on. Just because the dictionary says this or that does not mean we have to abide by it - fuck is a legitimate word but is taboo in a lot of circles, places, areas and that is ok, just like other words...
Please let it go.
If fat means flavour then I'm ******* delicious!

I'm just speaking candidly to the general public.
Yes, "fuck" is considered "offensive". If used towards a person to cause offense, then that person is correct in being offended. If it isn't used in an offensive manner but someone is offended, then we can go to the rulebook, look up the word and find out if the word is offensive on it's own. And look, it's listed as "slang" and "offensive". And you would be correct in being offended.
However, if someone uses a non-offensive word in an inoffensive manner, and someone is offended, and you go to the rulebook, and we can see that it's not slang, nor offensive. You wouldn't be correct in being offended. Nor should the person who is mistakenly offended tell the other parties "just let it go".
No. It's the other way around.
That's the point that's being made. If something is offensive, we have rules that society has already agreed upon to make these determining decisions in the event that one or both parties are misinformed about the use of language.
I'm pretty sure I've explained repeatedly what happens when we ignore the rules of society
Those who are mistakenly offended, due to their own personal feelings, are the ones who need to "let it go".
And by that I mean they need to confront their own issues, and come to terms with their negative feelings so that they aren't mistakenly offended by something that is by every literal definition, not offensive.
This is why identity politics is stupid; everyone is expected to just throw all the rules out the window and subdue to whomever is the most offended, because "feelings".
That's not how a civilized society operates. Civilized society abides by the rules that society has already agreed upon.
