Well don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching ecchi/comedy too once in a while. Especially after watching something dark, it's a nice change in pace. I most of the time find myself highly enjoying them for the first few episodes then I just start loosing interest as it goes on. 12 or 13 episodes is more than enough for me.
It's mainly because 90% of the time I hate the main character. Typically some weak boy that has no redeemable qualities. He's not popular with girls then BOOM all of the sudden he has 5 girls on top of him for no reason.
Now here's where my hate really blossoms... I know they do this so it doesn't turn into some full blown hentai but it just annoys me to death. If you had 5 girls lusting after you, literally all of them time, I think we all know what any normal healthy male would do in this situation. Yet, Mr. Man in the series is afraid to do anything. I just sit there raging with a huge WHY and a question mark over my head.
But, you know, whatever floats your boat haha.

I know I said a few pages ago that Tenchi Muyo! was the only good harem but I'm gonna change my answer.
School Days is definitely the best. Deconstruction of the harem genre.
Although the guy was an ass most of the time, it was great.

"Asuka acts like (...) and vice-versa."
That's what I mean with the excuses. The behavior is justified, but from a neutral point of view it doesn't make sense for a girl to be that easy and free on a rather private subject. Asuka is like that, because it attracts viewers. Otaku males adore that kind of personality. It's simple marketing. The fact that Rebuild toned it down proved that it was uncalled for.

Thank you Snazzle, and Earnshaw30. These are great animes which I will definitely look into as soon as I finish the first suggestion "School Rumble" (which by the way, I adore!)
I have one to recommend but I'm not so sure it's popular on this particular fourm. If you love romance, zombies, violence, please do try Highschool of the Dead.

@Fayne Tepria, I've already seen Kiss x Sis and I thought it was pretty good.
@Chimera, Well... Opinions, opinions. We could sit here and keep going back and forth but it won't change anything. Even if you say you think it's uncalled for, I disagree. The extremist personalities is why I love it, and how it's toned down in Rebuild just kinda ruins their characters for me.
