Hmmm, agree to disagree there, I found the plot actually pretty clear. Kid dies, goes to this new world, ect.
As for the Otonashi and Kanade (angel) at the end, I just say people will do anything for the ones they love. Otonashi was in love with Kanade, therefore he wanted to stay in that world and stay with Kanade. He was willing to give up being with his friends for her.
Oh well, just my opinion.

Hb, watch it all the way the best of the tragedies are yet to come ;o.
And here's a random fact I learned when randomly browsing W*kipedia, apparently Kazuya Nakai is the voice actor for both Roronoa Zoro from One Piece and Date Masamune from Sengoku Basara. Guess he's just got a strange attraction to voicing swordsmen who have more swords than hands :P .
Actually, I find it fun to look up voice actors from a popular anime and discover how many anime series they've played a role in that I've watched. It's great to hear a voice and go "I recognize that voice from somewhere" and then look it up and see that person played characters x, y, and z.

Tenshi, I would have understood Otonashi if he had those feelings for her in the previous episodes. I saw no indication that he loved her before episode 13. That's why I have no sympathy for what he did at the end.
Anyways, I'm going to go ahead and review Air even though i'm still at episode 10, because this anime has just thrown me off.
~Air Review~
Overall rating: 2/5
This will be more of a rant than anything, and I apologize. Main thing i want to say about this anime is that it confused me. First seven episodes were great. What i didn't like was how episode 7 ended and how the story changes to 1000 years in the past in the next episode. I've now realized that this show is divided into story arcs, but to be honest, i don't see a point in doing it. Anyways, I don't recommend seeing it.
Anyways, that's the end of my review. My next review will be on Kanon. I hope that will be a little better than the last 2 animes I've watched.
P.S. I'd just like to know if Yukito is even involved in the last arc?

The voice actor for Roronoa Zoro isn´t an uncommen voice in the anime industry. Other notable roles by the same Seiyuu:
- Mugen (Samurai Champloo)
- Mayo- I mean, Hijikata Toushiro (Gintama)
- Suguru Ryuuji (Ao no Exorcist)
- Date Masamune (Sengoku Basara)
- Doumeki Shizuka (Xxxholic)
Kinda the same kind of characters lol.
Though if there's a voice that appears everywhere it's Kugumiya Rie or Romi Paku or that dude who voices Ulquiorra (Namikawa Daisuke?).
Browsing voice actors is a lot easier with Myanimelist btw.

I would like to apologize in advance for the massive post. Once I get into writing, it can take a long time for me to stop lol.
So, the sudden change-up of history and Key's habitual vagueness in Air throws another person for a loop huh. Did the same thing to me, thought for a moment that ide ended up downloading the wrong show. And then of course theres the bit after that were its like 'wait....why is Yukito a crow now..." (Yukito + Timeloop + Anomaly = Sora...or something, I don't really get it either) . Might be worth looking into the Toei movie version, since that focuses solely on and expands the Misuzu and Summer story line's, so the whole affair with that gets explains a little better.
As for AB, yeah, Otonashi's affections for Kanade do come somewhat out of nowhere because there was so little foreshadowing for the fact. I kind of get the impression that they were trying to convey the fact that his feelings for her were born out of some emotion other than the norm, and that does become a bit more evident on secondary viewings, but it defiantly was abrupt for the first view.
I think that has to do with something that occurred during production. Many rumors, none that I've confirmed to be true, say that the episode target was originally 3 cour, but for some reason it was reduced to one.
However, I disagree that the plot is unclear. The progression of the story through the subplots, all of which lead up to the resolution by influencing the characters to specific actions (this is a very character driven, not plot driven, show).

If your referring to the ending and how not a whole lot was made to clear in that regard, then that's really a mixture of bizarre direction choices and Key being Key. Alot of important points which would normally be emphasized often get glossed over fast in conversation or look like throwaway comments, and therefore go over most peoples heads. this isn't helped by the fact that Key generally make a point of rarely to never directly addressing the mechanics of the world which powers the supernatural or the mysterious, instead opting for a 'its not important how it happens, only that it does and what effect that has on those who bear it witness.
This approach can leave a lot of things unexplained, but personally I like it this way since it can give you something to ponder afterwards. Thats one of the reasons I like they Key storytelling modus operandi, not every mystery is ever fully addressed, so as the viewer/reader you get the opportunity to mull it over yourself, make your own conclusions and enjoy that enhancement to the immersion factor.
Finally, I want to just make a point about that 'I would have thought it would be as good as Clannad' comment. Leaving aside my own bias against Clannad, which im sure your all aware of by now, I have to ask whether that comment is or is not factoring in AS.
If its not, well, no comment, if it is however I want to give you a heads up that Clannad is a bit of an odd duck as far as the current Key animations go, because its the only one to include both the 'blended routes' (multi-character focus) and the 'true route' (singular character/ character set focus). If your factoring both you'll find that you wont see that again in any of the other Key anime (at least, not until LB!. Still very curious how they intend to handle Refrain, which is LB's endgame route).

Anywho's, subect of Key, current update + Rewrite review.
- Finally gotten started on the Clannad VN. Still haven't gotten very far into it, the English patch is pretty poorly done, lots of machine translation and random nonsensical lines which I need to interpret, which is making it very hard because I keep getting taken back out of the story to wonder what the heck its trying to say. I want to finish it, but it will be slow going. Interestingly fact, all of the early Key VN's allow you to input your own name into the game, being addressed as 'Black***-kun' feels kinda weird even if it is only in a game, so I just put in Tomoya's name lol.
- Started another VN, Rewrite (Key's latest work. Look up the second trailer if you've never seen it, its awesome). I bought the first press edition about this time last year when it was released (The Japanese really know how to pack a limited edition game, even if they do add in some things that any self respecting person wouldnt put on display to the general public) and its been sitting on my shelf waiting for a translation since. You guys have no idea how much of a pain in the butt its been to try and avoid spoilers for the last 12 months.

Amaterasu have gotten the common route patch out incredibly fast (started in march) considering the size of Rewrites script, and they are moving along at a good clip with the Kotori route patch, after which I believe the plan is to do Akane (probably just wants to get up to the 'Oppai' joke ending) and then Shizuru (yay, so glad my favorite character isnt getting left till last this time :P ).
Impressions thus far is that while this one is not terrible and is still a very fun read (lots of LoL moments) this one is defiantly not Keys best work, and you can really see the differences in the direction and the writing staff (Maeda took a bit of a back seat with this one. Alot of contributions from guest writers including Ryukishi07. His influence really does stand out alot, because many of the effects/ sounds are straight out of Umineko, as well as a few odd nods to his former works).
Primary criticisms are as follow:
- Kotarou (the MC) is a bit of a ass
- To few scenes with multiple character interactions
- Kotarou is a bit of a ass
- Music dosent correspond well to the tension of the scene
- Kotarou is a bit of a ass
- Some voices dont mesh to well with the characters (specifically Chihaya, though that may have more to do with my initial impressions based on the character designs than anything specifically wrong with the choices).
- Kotarou is a bit of a ass
-The 'next day' screen shows which character is going to have the main interaction for that day (kinda kills the suspense).
- Kotarou is a bit of a ass (did I say that already :P )
