Hahaha all sorts of deja vu´s going on here.
Anyway, shounen means targeted at a younger male audience.(I think teenage, young adoloscents)(seinen=adult male) It´s a demographic not a genre. Death Note is a shounen too. The ones Revive doesn´t like all happen to be published in the same magazine and are somewhat similar in some aspects. But they´re not that bad. I just finished Fate/stay-night, and it's the same lol only shorter and it even makes less sense and deus ex machina galore. (with too much unecessary fanservice and wasted quality because of an eroge/VN adaptation).
"people die if they are killed"
Now that's deep. XD

Did anyone remember Monster Rancher? The english dub was not bad. Although I wish the series was still going because I was not expecting that kind of ending at episode 73.
I'm thinking of watching all 73 episodes again one day in subs.

So what is wrong with Shounen?
I normally prefer subbed over dubbed, but I think it usually has a lot to do with what I first watch it in. I think generally I get used to watching it in a certain format and so the other format automatically becomes fail for me. However, subbed tends to be more over the top than dubbed, they always censor way too much in dubbed.
I hate original Naruto for the most part, but I love Shippuuden.
I think Monster Rancher fits in with the pokemon / digimon age group which isn't my taste anymore lol. It was alright back when I was younger, but I wouldn't watch it today lol.

I watch all anime in subbed. The only time I watched in dubbed is when a scene which I actually find funny I switch and then I switch back to continued.

Naruto is an awesome series as the latest chapter and episode comes every week but One Piece is much better. :P
So what if it's in the Pokemon/Digimon age group? It's still anime. :)

@Flame- I've heard it was good, haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
@Dynamic- Not sure what to recommend that you haven't already seen. I do have high hopes for Sankarea, so you could look into that.
@Revive- I like Accel World for the best anime of the season. Still waiting for the 3rd episode, but the first 2 really got me interested.
On the topic of shounen, I tend to agree with the majority here. It tends to be more for the young people, whereas the older, more serious watchers have, for the most part, moved onto the deeper, more mature, and, imo, better series. I have no problem with people that like shounen (I've learned considerable tolerance by dealing with a bunch of friends who think MLP is the best thing ever) but I rarely watch shounen stuff anymore.

^ I thought Accel World was alright. I just don't like the MC. I don't care if he's fat, but do they have to make him like 3 feet tall.... really....?
And I just watched the 1st ep of Kids on the Slope, which looks like it could be the best this season too, we'll just have to wait and see how things turn out...
