Not yet. Its on my 'to do' list, but I haven't even really been keeping up with the current season let alone my DVD backlog. 24 hours in a day is just not enough unfortunately...
Somebody who dosent know how to use spoiler tags already sorta ruined it for me though, so I already more or less know how it ends. I really should stop clicking on Y!A questions for shows that I haven't finished yet.

Because unlike the english music industry, the Japanese are still capable of producing good music that isn't just a person talking with a synth beat in the background?
Your not alone, trust me. On my Ipod I have 68 CD's, only 9 of those are English music, the rest of them are from either anime or visual novels, mostly OP/ED songs but a few which are purely orchestral.
The way I see it, the point of music is not for it to be understood, but for it to be pleasing to the ear. AS such, I don't think it matters what language the words to the music are in, if the music has words at all, so long as you find it pleasing to listen to.

I don´t get why one necessairily ought to listen to the newest music. Many great albums and songs have been written the past 50 years.
Good new music is still available though in less amounts because the bad music is popular.
I really disagree about the words. Music is far more than the melody, great lyrics or messages or poetry really make a song.
Japanese music does not have to be better than western music. It has a very generic pop structure and frequently synthesized beats as well. The thing is, it has a typical sound that you can like or dislike, and it does not care about western popularity.
You can rate music the same way as, well for example anime. Structure, contents, meaning and atmosphere. A perfect song has all, that would be: melody, lyrics, rythem, atmosphere; of course of a certain professional level.

@Ouji desu

True. I tend to like alot of the music that i hear from the 80's and early 90's, its just that the majority of my musical consumption that dosent come from Japanese media comes from the radio at work, and im not the one choosing the station, so all I get is recent stuff.

When it comes to the words, while a message or story contained within the song is nice, and is a consideration when it comes to English music, when it comes to Japanese song I'm more interested with how the lyrics go together with the other elements of the song, more like the lead instrument as opposed to the centrepeice of the song.
Yes, the mainstay of anime music has that generic structure, but what stands out to me as setting it apart from English music is a difference in instrumental priority VS singer priority, and instrument count. Ive found that the instrumental aspects of the song play a larger role in the music that in the west, were its either dulled for the singer to take priority, or just dosent exist. I have no issue with synth , but just ONE is not acceptable.
If your gonna do that you need at least 3 different beats to make decent music.
