Watched episode 1 of YuruYuri last night. Seems like your average school/slice of life series. There was an odd bit when it went all mysterious with that 'big sister's room' bit, so there might be some sort of dark secret in the plotline. Other than that it seems a pretty typical Lucky Star style storyline.
You just know that it's going to turn out like School Days in the last few episodes....
Tech, the opening is good enough to be better than the whole show right now? That is great! Might just be me but I would rather listen to the opening to get a good feeling of an anime and to soothe myself. But half the time the opening contradicts the mood of the actual plot (*cough school days *cough*) and has a really out of place introduction to the series. I was going to watch it after picking up on some missed episodes and some other mid-summer anime that is springing up.
Hyper, I hope they make a season three too! I hear rumors of it not happening because the makers didn't plan that far but look at Season Two's ending; there is no way they will waste time and money to tease everyone. That's how I see it at least. The series is very different from the usual romance/school type anime. Though they aren't too close to the manga, there is still enough space to create a third season. From the looks of the five girls, there might not be any fillers or maybe this will turn out to be a 24-episode season. All in all, they could do five seasons if they wanted. The sales of the first season showed a second season and hopefully this will do the same.
Finished Fortune Arterial last night. It was alright, but there really wasn't much to the plotline, and seemed very lacking in content. It just seems that the plotline was just about a boy spending 13 episodes to tell a girl that he's not going to leave, etc etc blah blah. Now to find another series to watch. Might start Hayate no Gotoku season 2 now, been putting it off for a while, or if not that, Umineko no Naku Koro Ni.
Just found out that Madoka Magica has been licensed
. Dunno how I feel about Aniplex doing it though, since im not all that familiar with their products (not that they put out many, a quick check shows only Durarara and the Gurren Lagann movies).
From what I can tell, they seem to package their stuff in plastic slipcases like they do with their Japanese releases. Not really a fan of those since constant sliding in and out puts dents on the corners of the inside bits. Still better than Sentai's horrible spool cases though (and yes, i do hate on those at every opportunity).
And another thing. Have you ever thought how weird it would be to hear the voices of some anime characters coming out of a real persons mouth? I was listening to the OP song for Kud Wafter (Key VN), and i realised how utterly bizarre it would seem to hear Kud's voice coming out of someone.
