@TechEngineer: While its true that the original is completly different and more faithful to the manga, I would actually say that in terms of actual entertainment value the remake performed better.
The thing with Negima is that it has two rather separate aspects, the harem comedy and the action sequences. My impression of the first series was that it was ineffective at balancing these two elements and so it came out rather generic.
Its actually rather unfortunate, the manga (which ive started to buy recently, right as the print license expires. Typical) balances the two elements really well and manages to be a lot more interesting and hold more intrigue in the process. Hopefully thats the route they will go down for the movie.
As for Dance in the Vampire Bund (i still haven't found out what the heck a bund is). I remember i watched the first episode back when it was being released initially and was turned off by the weird art styles. Ive heard that that sort of thing only occurs in the first episode, true or not?
Reason i ask is because i was thinking of ordering it when i do my next large order next month after my tax comes in, for no real reason other than for the sake of seeing that scene that Funi controversially decided to censor (and then later decided not to under pressure from consumers).

I don't think the art style is weird, it looks normal to me. The story doesn't really start until episode 2, so you could give it another try.
I'm happy to see this series hasn't become another of those series in which the main male character is the servant of a tsundere and willing to do anything for her. *cough*Gosick*cough*
As of episode 6 it looks like the story is heading in a different direction (I sure hope so).
As for the word Bund, W*kipedia learns me that Bund is the German language and Yiddish word for Federation or Union, in which context it is pronounced "boont". Since 1949, the word is frequently used in reference to the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland), its parliament (Bundestag), its military (Bundeswehr), etc. Switzerland and Austria have similarly named institutions.

Fair enough then. Back a while ago i remember Zac (from ANN) mentioning on ANNcast that the word didn't make contextual sense being used in the title, but given what i know of the plot and seems perfectly acceptable to me.
What i meant with the art style thing didn't refer to the whole art style, its just that i found some of the character designs to be absolutely horrific. For a good example of what I mean, minute 3 second 34 of the first episode.
The fact that ive never been a fan of the 'realistic' character design method dosent help matters.

I see. I'm not bothered by it (didn't even notice it), but I can understand you are. Most of the characters are only in that first episode, so you could check if you're still bothered by it in the second episode.
Actually I'm bothered when the character designs get too unrealistic. For example I hate those shows where the eyes of the characters are so big they're almost half the size of their head and their iris fill almost their whole eyes. Basically their eyes look like giant colored rectangles.
A good example of that is Clannad. It was a great anime, but I found the art style horrible.

Since the eyes are often the focal point of the character, i think it works well from a design perspective to give them that large, expressive look. The fact that its cute dosent hurt either.
Even if that would be extremely disproportionate in real life, i learned a long time ago not to try to apply real world knowledge or logic to any form of anime related media. I beleive that i get alot more enjoyment out of it for doing so.
I was actually thinking about this the other day while I was looking at various threads on an anime forum, and reading peoples opinions and criticisms of the realism of different series, the likelihood of occurrences and general analytic breakdowns.
I compared this with the words of certain ex-anime fans whom i have spoken with in the past, who have stated that they can no longer enjoy anime becasue they started to 'analyze everything that happens'.
I came to the conclusion that, all told, the types of anime one can enjoy and the manner in which one can enjoy them are significantly affected by ones capacity for the various aspects of 'willing suspension of disbelief'. This works by me, since so long as theres something to bind the plot together, my disbelief and skepticism can stay on the shelf until im ready to return to 3D land.

I don't mind stories that make no sense when you analyze them. One of my favorite shows atm is about a microwave that can send text messages back in time. And it's highly enjoyable.
Anime should just be watched with an open mind indeed, not by analyzing everything and comparing it to the laws of physics.
But to me characters should look realistic or I will either be very annoyed or not interested in the show at all. ESPECIALLY their eyes, since you look at their eyes first like you said.
The show itself can be in an entirely fictional setting, that makes it a lot more interesting. And if there's a good story to back it up with even better. As long as there's someone you can identify with.
A good example of a bad show with even worse character designs is that Onii-chan anime that aired last season. I've seen some of it and wow that was awful. Even if I would've liked that kind of anime I could never watch it because of the weird characters with big ears and hands.
In this season it would be Denpa Onna. I'm a bit annoyed by their weird smiles and their shiny knees.

Finally finished watching season 1 of Hayate no Gotoku last night. Season 2 still to watch somewhen, but i'll probably finish watching Gosick first.
Question: What day each week does the English dub of Angel Beats air? And has episode 4 been aired yet?, as I cant seem to find it anywhere to watch it.

@Zuriel: It see,s that the dubbed episodes have been removed from YT, since they weren't exactly 'officially' uploaded. I had a look and found out its being streamed by The Anime Network, which as far as i can tell is a video on demand TV channel in the US.
As best i can figure out, new episodes are coming out on Mondays. Cant confirm since, as usual, they block any IP that isn't North American.

@TechEngineer: Which is why I made a point of saying 'various aspects of willing suspension of disbelief' instead of using it as a whole category like the term usually is, to facilitate different tolerances to lack of realism within the different subcategories.
Of course, sometimes its not about what you can personally facilitate so much as whether the designs are just weird/terrible as you so rightly point out, but again, even that finds its own tolerance level.
