I dont think i could stand watching an anime about an MMORPG to be honest, seems like it would be boring:
Episode 459: Jesse B77 quests for 99 cooking (part 3)
Episode summary: Jesse B77 cooks sharks for 20 minutes. Then {spoiler alert) Major tragedy, Jesse B77 gets killed by a PKer. Thats right, your favorite character dies (/spoilers) Jesse B77 respawns in Lumbridge and continues cooking :P
But yeah lol, i dont think putting them together would be a particularly entertaining experience.

Anywho's. Has anyone seen the subs that gg are doing for Hidan no Aria. They seem to have decided its not worth the time to do it properly, so they are subbing it with silly subtitles, along the lines of 'all according to keikaku (TL note: keikaku means plan').
Im downloading both gg's and UTW's so i can have both the lulzy subs and the proper translations.

gg are known as troll subs. Seriously, it's supposed to be English subs, and yet they put some Japanese words in the subtitles -_- I'm not complaining about them leaving Japanese TV advertisements though. Some of them are really funny xD Anyone remember 'Morning Rescue' in Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica? :L
I only get them when I can't wait for other subbers (in the case of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, AnoHana, etc). I do end up getting proper subs later on though :P
Clue Drops -> 3a Range Top (h357), 3a Full Helm (h439), 3a Druidic Staff (e969), Barrows Dye (h1755, h2546, e680, e1567, e2038, e2160, m480, m783, m862), Shadow Dye (e510, e1970, e1985, h2948), Ice Dye (e1539, e2804), 3a Dye (e3129)

I know, but i question exactly how warranted that reputation is. Ive done comparisons between their subs and the subs of other groups for the same show and have found that the differences aren't very significant at all (Aria being an exception).
To be honest, I actually prefer when some japanese words are left in the subs, such as when people dont bother to translate common terms or phrases like 'itadakimasu' . In many ways it makes sense to do so since people who watch anime often are usually so familiar with these words that translating them isn't really necessary.
And i to, get a great laugh out of the ads. Its not an episode of Madoka without at least one mention of morning lescue.

Which brings me to an interesting question though. I was thinking recently that there seems to be two schools of thought when it comes to professional subtitling.
In some cases, you see subtitles which are targeted to those that are 'experienced' anime watchers by leaving certain aspects of japanese intact, things such as the reversed names, honorifics and key phrases.
Other times, and often far more common, are the somewhat more 'westernised' subs, which remove all these things in favor of translations or simple omissions.
Ive been wondering exactly what peoples thoughts are on these two different schools of thought, and what option people prefer. Personally, i like the first option, especially leaving the honourifics in play.

gg is actually a good fansub group when they want to. They usually do things very liberal, as in taking out honorifics, western name order, and TRY to translate words that doesn't really have an English equivalent. It's just in the case of Aria, they decided to give the people who keep complaining about their subs what they want. That is honorifics, untranslated words with TL notes about them, eastern name order, etc...In this case, once people are exposed to too many untranslated words, they begin to realize how much of a nuisance and utterly useless leaving words untranslated is. Also, what's funny is just about everybody involved in fansub are in multiple groups, so you can expect Eclipse and UTW members in gg as well.
