The thing is, in the Death Note world, Heaven and Hell doesn't exist, meaning all life goes to the same place (Mu/Nothingness) whether they've used the Death Note or not.
@Jesse B77
I don't really get why they added him to the OP because Deadman Wonderland is 12 episodes and I don't think they'll actually even get anywhere close to where he'll have an actual part in the plot.
^that dosent really make sense though. The very fact that they add the 'heaven or hell' rule in there attests to the fact that they do exist in that world. I mean, I just cant see them writing in a random, redundant rule for absolutely no reason.
Were exactly does it say that heaven or hell dont exist. I didn't pick up on that in the anime, so i take it the manga somewhere?

If I had a Death Note, and I will probably be the only one saying this, but I will use it to make my life more...progressing. If something does not fit, then it will have to be taken out. There would be no way I could throw it away because in the end- someone else would get it and repeat the process of the show. So I will take that burden myself.
"The human who uses the notebook can neither go to Heaven nor Hell"
"A person can shorten his/her own life by using the note"
You want to know what rule I found that was funny in the Death Note. Goes to show that you can't spell anything wrong...
"If the victim's name was misspelled on purpose four or more times, the user along with the victim will die."
Oh, and for you sick twisted people that like to kill babies:
"The Death Note will not affect those under 780 days old."
I was just flicking through the explanation of the rules in volume 13 of the manga. I only mentions that he owner dies if the name is intentionally misspelled 4 times, dosent say anything about the person who's name he was trying to write.
It dosent elaborate any more on the heaven or hell rule either.

Just using the Deathnote wiki for the rules.
It just says the owner goes to nothingness. I would think that, in a way, endless Purgatory or they just don't exist anymore.
In the manga, right at the end, it was said that all humans die one day, and the place they go is "Mu".
The term "Mu" is used in some kind of Buddhism (a type that the writer was heavily influenced by apparently) to refer to an incorrectly phrased question or such that can't have or doesn't warrant an answer. The place humans go is "Mu" because there is no place they can go, so the question as to where they go isn't a proper question. "What do you mean where? There isn't anywhere!" Or something like that. "What does the colour blue smell like?" would perhaps be a example getting a "Mu" response.
So in effect, there is no afterlife and when people die in Death Note, that's it, hence "nothingness" being put in translators' notes for that part. Makes the rule a tad redundant.
The manga is definitely worth the read. I didn't really like the anime that much.
Btw, who watched the Live Action version of Death Note before reading the manga/watching the anime? xD
Clue Drops ->
3a Range Top (h357), 3a Full Helm (h439), 3a Druidic Staff (e969), Barrows Dye (h1755, h2546, e680, e1567, e2038, e2160, m480, m783, m862), Shadow Dye (e510, e1970, e1985, h2948), Ice Dye (e1539, e2804), 3a Dye (e3129)
Well the anime follows the story of the manga very closely. But manga is awesome in its own way.
I never watch live action versions, I hear nothing but negative things about them. :p
