^Seems to me the rule is its ok as long as you dont say the H word. Ive mentioned adult VN's plenty of times and nobody's been terribly worried about it.
But man, do i hate waiting. Thats the worst thing about keeping up with all the new seasons content, waiting all week for the next episode of my favorites. It dosent help that the most of what im watching this season all airs on the same day.
I got bored not having anything to watch, so i went back and started re-watching the first season of Index. Comparing between the first and the second, theres something subtly...different...i cant really put my finger on what it is though.
I also re-watched the six episodes of Madoka that have aired so far. When you watch it a second time, you can really see where it is they fool you the first time, casting Homura as the bad guy and making Kyubey seem all innocent. Looking at it again, it seems the other way around (i wondered when they would get around to making a magical girl show where the talking magic ferret was the villain :P ).
I love USB supporting TV's. 42 inches of pure anime goodness, to bad i have to wait for the old people to go to bed before i can hi-jack it.

What a forum about anime!?! haha this is my first time coming across this forum. Love anime, particularly anime movies!
Favorite Anime movies include:
Spirited Away, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Whisper of the Heart, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Totoro, pretty much all Hayao Miyazaki films and ghibli studio films
Favorite Anime series include:
Death Note and Gunslinger Girl.
Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon I watched as a child
I know it is not anime but I consider it very similar and is a great show anyways, but I love Avatar the Last Airbender series! haha
Also, I have made several AMVs (Anime Music Videos) with most of these animes and shows. Look up my channel on youtube if anyone is into that! My username is ErnestRayArtVideos (no spaces) ^_^
Anyways Add me in the game if you love any of these anime movies, Death Note, or Avatar the Last Airbender!

I picked up some older series and watched the first two episodes of: Darker than Black season 1, Gunslinger Girl, Noein, Paranoia Agent, Witch Hunter Robin and Wolf's Rain.
I'm thinking about buying some of the box sets of these series, but I haven't figured out yet which I like the most and unfortunately I don't have enough money to buy all of them. :P Are there any of those series which I should definately buy?
P.S. At those times I hate to live in Europe where we have different region DVDs than in the US. Most of the English subbed/dubbed series come out in the US, so I don't have much choice here. :/
Maybe I should just learn Japanese, because Japan is in the same region as Europe. ;)

I loved watching Gunslinger Girl, it was a very good series. But I only watched the original (13 episodes I think). I say this because I believe that they made newer episodes after, but I have yet to watch any of them.
However, the episodes that I have seen were great. P.S. I watched them in english dubbed (which i prefer in my opinion since that is what I speak and understand).
The show was very somber and sometimes depressing, but it nonetheless very enjoyable.

@Longinesa
Personally, i thought Gunslinger Girl lacked substance. While it was interesting to watch the politics and what not, i would have preferred a little more elaboration on character, a little more human introspection from the girls.
For me it felt like the where just 'there', and i wasn't really connecting to any character, which kinda killed the mood.

As for not having a whole lot of selection in the UK, i was kinda in the same boat when i started collecting. Best thing you can do is go to an electronics store and ask them to sell you a DVD player which supports region 1. Some of them are kitted out to do this already, but most DVD players have a 'secret menu' which the manufacturers put in there as a boycott of the reigon control system, which allows you to change their region coding.
Generally, they cant tell you how to get into this menu in the store, but its common knowledge on the internet.I dont know what brands you have in the UK, but my Pioneer DVD player (did you know pioneer also licensed anime at one point) could play DVD Regions 0,1,2 and 4 straight out of the box.
Once you got one of those, its a simple matter of finding a US online store that you like. I prefer rightstuf (yes, its only one F) myself, the prices are great, all the items are legit (they actually even license some anime themselves under the title of 'Nozomi) and they have very cheap international shipping rates (you pay $10 USD postage for the first item which buys you the box, then $2 every item after that).

Good customer service/relations as well. A few months ago i ordered an art box from them. The package must have gotten wet in transit or something, because there where these big blotchy water marks on it. I sent them a message letting them know and they didn't ask any questions, didn't even ask me to send it back, they just apologized and sent me another one for free.
And yeah, you dont wanna go buying japanese media. I only do it on the rare occasion when theres something i really want because the prices are really big, and thats before the almost criminal markups by the distributor.
For example, i bought the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha special edition BD when it came out in japan (i figured, the first two seasons where a Geneon save, if Funi didn't license StrikerS they probally werent gonna license the movie, and it did have English subs so....).
Its RRP in Japan is 8800 yen (by today's exchange mid-rates thats about $105 USD or AUD, and about 65.5 GBP) then they mark it up and add on the cost of shipping (and they always make you track and insure :| ) so in the end it cost me about $110 (which is cheap). Even without the special edition its only 2000 yen cheaper...
Its even worse with TV series, your looking at 70 odd dollars for a 2 episode DVD.

@Kmr1010
I dont think i could stand reading the novels. Seems to me discussions about the value of coins could take up entire chapters. Its like what the ANN podcast guy said, the whole novel is probably just a series of charts and sales figures with a *ahem* disrobed wolf-girl in the corner :P .

^Apparently basketball makes me a very talkative person. It'd be nice if both my feet would stop throbbing though...

Jesse, thank you for your post. I heard about the possibility of making your DVD player region free before, but your post convinced me to try it out. Finding the codes was really easy. They say "use them at your own risk", but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
I already thought it was hard to choose between 5 series, but if I manage to unlock my DVD player I'll definately have a hard time choosing as I've only just begun collecting. :P
I'll check out some of the US online stores, but I'm fortunate to have one fairly cheap online store in my own country which oddly enough also sells a lot of region 1 DVDs and BDs.

Although I've heard that podcast, actually I really like Spice & Wolf. It's not that I'm in it just for the moe wolfgirl like most of the fans, I also think the economics are really interesting.
