What did he mean by this? It's the DRM built into it. To read a Bluray you need a license decryption key. You don't actually own a Bluray with that built into it. Especially since those keys can be invalidated if the company so desires. Leader of The Enemy ||

DVDs are only preferable in rare instances where the show itself is native 480p and the BD just upscales to a higher resolution, like Haibane Renmei's release.

I actually quite like collecting pysical merch. Don't buy things like figures really, (did buy those acrylics Amanagi Seiji put out, but that was cause it was Amanagi Seiji specifiically). But I do buy manga, anime, CD's, doujins, and games. Not only do you get to support the creators, you also sometimes get bonus content and merch alongside it. Not to mention it feels different being able to hold it in your hand.

For instance the Bladedance DVD I bought earlier this year, it wasn't until I bought it that I found out there were in fact three PV's for the series. I'd known there were two, but three? Was quite a nice find to be honest. And all the doujins I've bought have come with bonus art pieces you could only get by buying it physically. Then there's that tapestry I was able to get by buying the Melonbooks version of Ore wa Lolicon Janai.(Couldn't get the Toronoana one sadly). And Akatsuki Records stuff is physical only.

M8, you do know all the bonuses for animes only come with the BD right?

So once again this makes 0 sense.
