Probably because the show is cancer and the fans are incessant shitposters on a level that was not as greatly admired at the time of publication as it is today

Just saw episode 1 of Black Clover and I have to say they did everything right (world building, interesting background stories, some character motivations, ect) but they really screwed up one key detail: Nothing in the first episode gripped me and made me want to see where the story was going. Big deal a clover, oh wow a demon. They didn't show the demon or do anything to make me care about it. Overall because they were just like "hey look at this, it's awesome!!!" without showing why it was awesome I'm left completely and utterly without a care about it.

Hopefully they will fix this.
