Watched the first few episodes of Gate and it's okay so far.

It's like a better version of an anime that has a similar premise. I can't remember it's name though... I'm pretty sure it was Outbreak Company.

I'm up-to-date and GATE has thus far retained it's charm.

agree with the comments about GATE a slightly more serious version of outbreak company though I enjoyed outbreak company for what it was
Implying any LN is to be respected at all.

GATE isn't serious at all it just has a charming quality to it. While many other fantasy shows tend to get boring and repetitive. Like Overlord of this season.

No Kantai Collection is complete garbage both the anime and game.

In GATE I like it for the characters responses to the warfare rather than the members of the army. Too often it is the other way around with "Modern day weapons have no effect, use this 1000 year old one."

Or it's 'Well, we're getting invaded by a technologically superior race, AGAIN". Always wanted to see a piece of media where humanities modern weaponry actually kicks some ass without casting us as the antagonists. I was sold the moment an attack chopper gunned down a dragon.
