Do you have it?

Would you recommend it?

It will only cost me $10 a month or $100 for a year subscription - it's a bloody good price. I'm finding NetFlix good for me, but not so good for my boys - they don't seem to want to watch much on NetFlix.

I will definitely have to do the 7 day trial with the boys and see how it goes.

I would like to know how you guys and girls feel about Disney Plus?

Disney just contributes to the fragmentation of movie streaming.

If all movie producers launch their own streaming platform, piracy will further escalate. No one in a right frame of mind will subscribe for the whole service for just one interesting movie series from a particular studio.

Netflix helped a lot of reducing piracy, as consumers were given a platform to stream all the movies + exclusive contents. By fragmenting the streaming industry, piracy unfortunately will become more enticing. So instead of earning more, Disney is set to earn less - their target audience are already in Netflix.

Disney have one major advantage over most other streaming services - they own a huge amount of big name studio content and big franchises:

Disney (obviously), Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm (so Star Wars and any future Indiana Jones films), Avatar, Alien, Deadpool, and quite a few more.

Then there's their current "jewel in the crown", The Mandalorian which has rave reviews - and rightly so, it's superb.

SKY, Amazon and Netflix are producing some decent stuff, but Disney have a huge back catalogue which they'll probably limit exclusively on their own platform.

If you're a huge star wars fan it gets even more tempting... they've remastered all 9 films in what they're now calling "The Skywalker Saga", so they'll be available in 4K/HDR.

There's a 4K box set coming as well but I think they'll be on the Disney service first.

From the "main" 9 films the only ones that really interest me are episodes 3,4 and 5.
They should just pretend episodes 1, 2 and 3 never happened. :P

Whether it is "worth it" or not is entirely subjective. Browse the catalogue and see if there is anything you would like to watch which is not available on other platforms. Yes it is another service but as long as the catalogue is diverse it isn't a huge concern. Consumers have a choice and with no contract involved, also have the power to make their own decisions in when or whether to cancel. Low on bank space? Click here .

Netflix is good for adult entertainment - no so many kid movies that my kids are interested in. Netflix has a huge array of 13 years + movies.

Thank you for your input, much appreciated.

I will do the free trial and see how my children feel.
