I have a couple of suggestions thought out with a couple of friends on how we could revive the woodcutting skill as it is very dead content at this moment. I hope some of those suggestions will sound good to you, not all of them are perfect.

Suggestions:

1. Remove all major logs from monster drops and replace them with wood spirits (stone spirits for woodcutting)

2. Introduce a woodcutting-oriented building at the fort, this would give several woodcutting buffs the higher the tier gets and other "only buyable buffs" would be purchasable with woodcutting points at the
woodcutting shop
.

3. Update evil tree rewards
(Woodcutting special items table roll)
and make them more noticeable and predictable, like worldwide announcements every 2 hours fixed. Would give woodcutting guild points (50 points).

4. Add a new woodcutting event where a hole appears near a tree you are cutting with atleast 2 people, you must remove some roots underground before a sickness effects the whole forest and it will award you with woodcutting points (20 points) and a
Woodcutting special items table roll
. If you fail to do the event, everyone who has touched the tree, on which the event happened on, for the last minute before the event spawned, will get a woodcutting debuff, that lasts for 10minutes and lowers the woodcutting speed by 20%.

5. Woodcutting contracts, that would require you to remove certain trees from areas to encourage more map traveling. Awards woodcutting guild points (10 points)

6. Torches idea for woodcutting (log consumption/incense sticks kind of feature, but for woodcutting only)
See below.

You can fletch a log into a torch which when lit, will add additional effects for 2 minutes. You can stack those just like incense sticks for up to an hour and will be wieldable in the off-hand slot, but it is not necessary to wield for the effects.

These effects will be focussed around woodcutting and when the torches are added to a sanas fyrtorch, their active duration will be doubled, actively halving the amount of torches used. When the sawmill in the fort is upgraded to tier 3, all those effects will have an additional 1.5x more likelyhood of triggering or will be enhanced by 1.5x. (Oak logs will trigger the plank making 60% of the time instead of 40%)

> normal log torches > 10% chance to get double logs, stackable with other double log effects. These double logs would give exp. (With tier 3 it will give a 15% chance)

> oak log torches > adds a 40% chance that logs will be converted to planks when cut, at a cost of 10% of the usual plank making costs at the sawmill operator. (Normal = 10, Oak = 25, teak = 50, mahogany = 150) (With tier 3 it will give a 60% chance)

> willow log torches > Increases your woodcutting speed by 10% (With tier 3 it will give a 15% increase in your woodcutting speed)

> maple log torches > Provides a 10% chance to get wood spirits from the tree you are cutting (oak trees will give oak wood spirits) (With tier 3 it will give a 15% chance)

> teak log torches > Wood spirits will have a 10% chance to not be used, when triggered. (With tier 3 it will give a 15% chance)

> mahogany log torches > will increase the amount of bird nests found by 20% and makes the bird nests found of a special tier that provides special woodcutting items (items described further down the line) (With tier 3 it will give a 30% increased chance)

> yew log torches > will add a chance for a leprechaun event happening whenever you cut a log (encounter chance dependent on log tier cut), when interacted with will give either a clue scroll or
a special woodcutting item table roll
(50%/50%).

> magic log torches > will add a 10% chance your logs will be banked for you. (With tier 3 it will give a 15% chance)

> elder log torches > will add a 70% chance the logs you cut will be automatically dissambled into invention parts (only works if invention is unlocked) (With tier 3 it will give a 100% chance)

> bloodweed log torches > will require you to add an item to it next to the tree so you can move away with it from the tree. This would provide a 50% increased chance that cutting from a bloodweed tree won’t deplete the tree each time a log is received. (With tier 3 it will give a 75% chance the bloodweed tree won’t be depleted).

Woodcutting special items table roll:

- Strung rabbit food enchantment; would further increase the effect of this item, providing a further 2x more chance to the bird nests effect and makes it able to be combined with the grace of the elves. (20/2000)

- Lumberjack outfit pieces; pure cosmetic, would recolour the lumberjack outfit pieces to a gilded version, tradeable kit, 1 kit per piece, unlocking those would also provide a gilded sentinel look. (10/2000). Can be traded in at the woodcutting shop for 30 points. (Max buy limit 2/4hours)

- Forged phoenix icon; pocket slot item that makes it possible to add scrimshaws in the icon, if would make it possible to run two scrimshaws at once and can be combined with a passage of the abyss. (20/2000)

- Elite clue scroll 50/2000

- Wood spirit essence (ingredients for new summoning familiars that would require 14 summoning and 89 summoning, increasing woodcutting succes chances and providing a hidden woodcutting level buff, summoning actives would increase those two by a significant amount) 100/2000 (About 1-3 would be given)

(level 11 familiar would boost the woodcutting skill invisibly by 2 and the special move would increase the woodcutting level visibly by 4)
(Level 89 familiar however, would boost the woodcutting skill invisibly by 12 and the special move would visibly boost the woodcutting by 16)

- Wood spirits 500/2000 (About 5-10)

- Logs 1300/2000 (Not many, 1-5)

Sounds good! I like the idea of the woodcutting special item table, shop is fine, but torches seem way too strong if you can stack all of them together.

The attachment to the GOTE and POTA are nice QOL upgrades.

People hated stone spirits, so wood spirits doesn't seem like something people will like either...

I disagree, I think that stone spirits were necessary in pulling raw materials out of the monster drop tables - I just wish that there was one generic spirit that worked for all ores (different amounts needed for different ores). But enough about stone spirits, wood spirits would be a second chance at getting this right.

I like the rest of the ideas as well :-)
Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?
