Dwano writes above:
"it's still cooking.. Actually butchering is killing the animal."
Well Dwano, is it cooking or is it killing?
Actually its neither. You are simply incorrect.
Here is a typical job description for a Butcher pulled from Career Planner.
"Cuts, trims, bones, ties, and grinds meats, using butcher's cutlery and powered equipment, such as electric grinder and bandsaw, to portion and prepare meat in cooking form: Cuts, trims, and bones carcass sections or prime cuts, using knives, meat saw, cleaver, and bandsaw, to reduce to cooking cuts, such as roasts, steaks, chops, stew cubes, and grinding meat.
Cuts and weighs steaks and chops for individual servings. Tends electric grinder to grind meat. Shapes and ties roasts. May estimate requirements and requisition or order meat supply. May receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery. May record quantity of meat received and issued to cooks. May clean fowl and fish"

You may notice there is no mention whatsoever of either cooking the meats or killing it.

Neither are part of the Butchers job.

SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPPORT! This is such an awesome idea! The possiblities are endless! Butcher a chicken and use fruits like bananas and peaches to make glazes!! Butcher pigs that you could add to a farm in your POH! Butcher...ehem...goblins. LOL! Such a cool idea!!! It opens up the game for so many new ideas!
Like dungeoneering, part of the skill could be f2p and part p2p. Higher level stuff being members. (Which is basically how all skills are...lol.) Stuffed chicken...stuffed duck...stuffed dragon...lol. It may be morbid, but I reallly want Jagex to make this skill. A daily pking diet of swords, monks, and lobs is so bland. Why can we not have honey-glazed ham on a chili potato!
Again, 10000% support.

Fda888, As much as I love the support a lot of the great foods you are mentioning would ultimately be prepared by a cook.
The Butchery skill would get you the raw duck, dragon, etc that a cook could turn into these foods.
And I couldn't agree more. With all the great creatures roaming Runescape for us to kill why can we eat so few of them.
I'm sick of fish.

What if, instead of getting just a meat, you got an entire carcass and you'd have to butcher that and you'd get several different meats. Then you cook that for cooking experience, but the butchery is still different. Because the butcher has to do stuff to it. And you'd have to do several steps to make it a raw meat that is edible. I think all non-member monsters would be non-member parts of the skill and same with members. Agreed?

Yes, That is exactly what I have in mind. You kill something and it drops a carcass. The Butcher, depending on his/her skill level, can cut that carcass into different pieces. The higher the skill level the better the cuts of meat as well as being more successful at getting more good pieces from the carcass. Just like real life.
