This may have already been mentioned, but with herblore giving boosts as well, I don't think stat boosting would add anything, or if it did, it would make herblore an obsolete skill. I think the combat system is still too limited to allow too many options here.

An alternative idea would be, for most animals to stop dropping certain other items. For example, you kill a blue dragon, it drops a carcass, but no more bones or hides. Once you salvage the carcass (butchery), you obtain bones and hides, perhaps with a higher skill yielding somewhat better/more materials. Low level butchery could only allow you to salvage chickens, rams, cows, et cetera, while at, say, 40 butchery, you could salvage green dragons. Certain nature-related monsters could be butchered for logs, herbs or seeds, certain magical carcasses could yield runes, essence and maybe potions. If you'd salvage a cow at a skill of 50 butchery, you could have a chance for double cowhides, beef or bones, the chance increasing as you level up. I also think both carcasses and their harvested materials should be tradable, so those people that kill the monsters, are always able to sell their loot, regardless of their butchery skill.

As for the logical side of it all, sure, you'd be carrying 28 carcasses in your inventory, but if 28 statues are possible,
(Enakhra's Lament, anyone)
so are 28 carcasses.

Just giving some suggestions here :)
My inventory is like a mini-tardis. It's so much bigger on the inside!

Bump!
You peer into a Chapel of Zamorak, which appears to be abandoned. Before you can close the doors again, a Revenant Chaos-Bringer flies at you and slays you instantly with a bolt of Shadow Lightning. Oh dear! You are dead!

I believe that this is mostly a subsection in the Cooking skill, since this IS related to cooking. The stuff your butchering is to be cooked.

The fact is the game isn't that big and you can't over burden it with lots of partially redundant skills. The easiest thing to do is fuse these related skills together. I can see some of that used in the cooking skill, but pushing it as its own skill is not going to work.

i support implementation of the mechanics, but not the skill.

butchery is awesome, but should be developed alongside a few more "options" to help develop a elite skill. as virtue said above, the game isnt that big and to include more to a already pretty solid skill could unforeseen consequences.

i do think it should be debated more, as my opinion isnt the word of god. i enjoy your tenacity and perseverance. hopefully your idea works out!
