Miniquest: Bar Crawl 2.0 Marimbo's Constitution

Simply put, another Bar Crawl, one that might challenge Marimbo.

Requirements:

- complete Alfred Grimhand's Bar Crawl miniquest

- completed a number of quests to access additional bars, taverns, alcohol sellers, and several unique brewers

Starting Point: whatever would make sense for Marimbo to leave you a letter

Marimbo tried out Grimhand's Bar Crawl after her return to Gielinor and found it to be ... quaint. Naturally, she decided to up the ante and challenge a bunch of poor saps to a true globe trotting bar crawl. To date, no one could keep up. So she figures, hey, maybe the World Guardian could match her.

Turns out when I say she hit a bunch of places ... I mean it. If there is a tavern, bar, alcohol seller, or brewer in game .... it is on this list. Each will have a ... unique ... beverage for you to try. Some of which Marimbo herself came up with based on their local stock. Even the places on the previous bar crawl list will have something new to try.

Simply go to each place on the list, sample their new ale, and see if you survive.

Rewards:

Chunk of Cooking XP

When you scratch off the last place, your Bar Crawl Card will magically show a new message from Marimbo herself. Turns out that the collection of near fatal alcohols you ingested (and no amount of sharks and restore potions will fix this hangover) was part of a special ... potion ... by Marimbo. You now have the effect of Marimbo's Constitution. What does that mean?

You no longer suffer the penalties/negative effects whenever you drink alcohol (in game). So bye bye negative stats when you drink any form of alcohol.

Example Drinks:

The Pick and Lute in Taverly
Troll Sweat. It tastes like troll sweat. It makes you sweat like a troll.

Dragon Inn in Yanille
Dragon Breath. You drink it, it makes you shoot a breath of fire.

Lighthouse
The lighthouse special. You see a bright light as if you're staring into the lighthouse light.

Pub in Varrock
The Lumbridge Beach Party
Mix of drinks left over from the beach party mixed up with a pinch of sand. It tastes like summer has come and gone, you suddenly feel a scorcher and then a brain freeze.

Keldagrim Pub
Kelda Rotgut. You see the world in a kalediscope of colors. Several hours later ... you blink ....

Any pub
Fire water. It looks like a jug of regular water. It tastes like water. Moments later it feels like your mouth is on fire.

Poison Arrow Pub
Ranger Aide Lite. At first it does nothing, then it seems like your eyes are able to focus in on a small ant .... all the way in Morytania .... The drink seems less filling though.

Fortunado
First Age Grape Juice. Labeled as a bottle of one of the oldest wines in the world. Really just grape juice. 10000 years of aging/fermentation however gives it a massive kick.

Any Dwarven Bar
Really mature dwarven ale. You have a sudden urge to tell stories about the good old days of mining and smithing.

I like it. Would be a pretty great sendoff to Marimbo now that she's all-but-certainly gone thanks to the Edicts being re-established, and alcohol's downsides are definitely one of the biggest issues keeping it from being relevant in modern RS3. Could also serve as a good excuse to rebalance it in general.

Do many ppl actually use these for this to be a bothersome thing?

I mean in what scenario would you use beers to "heal" yourself?

Nice idea. Albeit you should consider that Marimbo is likely gone following the events of Aftermath and most likely won't be able to contact/gift you directly.

Not so much for healing as most alcohol only heals a few hundred lifepoints. Let's just say that Wine is one of the highest healing alcohols available.

Most alochols do have a stat boost. Most also have at least 1 negative stat.

Asgarnian Ale is Str +2, Atk -4
Mature Asagarnian Ale is Str +3, Atk -6
Bandit's Brew is Thieving +1, Atk +1, Str -6 to - 8 and Def -6 to -8
Slayer's Respite is Slayer +2, Atk -2, Str, -2
Dwarven Stout is Smith +1, Mining +1, melee stats -2 to -7

So for most skills this would turn the majority of alcohol into a weak boosting potion that has the benefit of minor healing.

Take Beer. Very easy to get. It now becomes a +2 to Strength and heals 100. But no Atk reduction.
Take Dwarven Stout, which now simply boosts mining and smithing without the drawback of your strength score going down (which would impact mining if you don't have a restore potion)

I get this would seem overkill to overcome a few negative stats.
I'm also trying to take into account "balancing".
Alcohols .... are cheap ... in comparison to most potions. Beer doesn't boost as much as a strength potion, but in terms of cost and accessibility, Beer is easier to get.
Some stats also still don't have reliable stat boosting potions.

Hence why the suggestion would effectively require quests like Underground Pass, Horror From the Deep, Cabin Fever, Rum Deal, and several others. along with effectively having to have completed the previous bar crawl (needing 35 Agility).

And I get it.
This is absurdly overly done solution for a silly in game effect for something that most players probably wouldn't notice or don't focus on.
Then again ... this would help a very niche set of items to become more useful.
Would you be less reluctant to pick up that Beer that the creature dropped when you slew it?
Would you have some fun with a Slayer Task or even a Soul Reaper Task (especially on a live stream) with a "Slaying a [boss] with nothing but Grog" or "Slaying a [boss] with nothing but Bottles of Wine"?

Finally, the hope is that this is something that isn't too difficult to code.
If you've done that original Bar Crawl, you'll notice that the player isn't given any additional items (alcohols) when they do it. It's just dialogue and actions.
Yes, here you have a situation of yet more unique interactions with NPCs. But the different graphical teams don't need to come up with anything new. No cut scenes. Not boss battles. No new items. Likely limited to no new audio outside of maybe a few new sounds.

Finally Draco ..... this is intended to be the more 'classic' way of doing quests.
Yes, it is silly. Yes, it is a step away from One Small Favor. Yes, the reward is bizarre.
But keep in mind the premise:
- Marimbo
- lots of alcohol
- in a video game

Would it have helped if I suggested that Marimbo AND Brassica came up with the idea of this bar Crawl?
If there's a tertiary effect you'd like to suggest, by all means.
You've already got 1 suggestion that I think was to buff the healing?
