I am probably really referring to an era, in which the forums still were highly active (at least by players, but seeing mods to post something outsides of announcements wasn't that unusual either at least), but moderation already mostly was 'please, please don't do this', hiding posts and at most with some short-termed mute - if at all and only for going all over the board over and over and over again. And when they returned they went on. So obviously players who didn't wanted to endure the bullshit moved to platforms, that objectively are inferior for discussion - and especially for keeping things active for longer than just a short while (I mean - the discontinuation post already disappeared from the reddit top posts after all) - most of the time, but just work better due to their self-regulation.
And yeah - RS wasn't the only forum I've used in the past - but it was the only one, in which I've ever seen something like this going on. So problems obviously lied within it and not players who wanted to use it for what it's intended for. And yeah - not me - I am obviously still there. And else? A couple of dozens of players by now.
Take a look at certain things they have produced or are producing to derail the hell out of threads. Wrong assumptions, stupid one-liners and ludicrous justifications and counter-counterattacks afterwards - that
is
a combination of malice and insanity - certainly more of the former. Toolbox certainly is bigger for some of them, but that alone produced a lot of posts.
