While I do agree it was something I shouldn't do, not click to the next thing when I do want the task. I still believe a toggle, if they aren't going to change the placement of canceling the task as the exact next spot in the menu after clicking; essentially the continue button to look at what other options are there. If canceling the task was the only option I would completely agree, and for the most part I do agree it's something I shouldn't do. So I don't believe it would hurt to have a one time option to say yes, I'm sure I don't want this task, don't ask me if I'm sure again, like they do for at least a few other choices you can make.
Or better yet, change the placement so you actually have to purpose yourself to click where the cancel task button is. If it is an option lower or higher on the list of options, what is that going to inconvenience you. If it were anywhere, but the exact placement of where the continue button is on the next list of options, I'd say there was absolutely no need for asking to verify, but since it is, I believe a slight change in placement wouldn't be enough of an inconvenience to not merit doing.
So the problem I'm seeing here is, you are agreeing to disagree with me about the fact that there shouldn't be a verification, while ignoring that a slight change in placement wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience to not do. I'm saying either A) There should be a verification, or B) There should be a change in placement so they know if you click it, you meant to. A one time toggle for people who like it as it is to say not to ask again would be good enough of a solution. If you agree a one time toggle would solve the problem, I don't see what you are arguing about.
To me there should be 3 options
1) Always ask me if I am sure I want to cancel the task
2) Ask me if I am sure only when I cancel a task that is preferred
3) Don't ask me if I'm sure again
And that would solve the problem
