Overall, this looks pretty good. I have experienced this in other games in a number of ways.
1.
In Mabinogi you level up certain instruments to to be able to play them better missing less notes when playing a music score. Scores are made by players to play Hedwigs Theme for example. It was not just one skill. Each instrument had it's own skill you leveled up.
2.
In LOTRO you had to level up your character to be able to play certain instruments based on the instrument level. You can't play an instrument you haven't learned how to play so you needed a player of the Minstrel class(Who utilizes music to buff and stuff) to teach you. The instruments were not skills so you just played them pressing number keys or placing midi files in the form of .abc in your LOTRO Music folder and typed a command to play whatever song you wanted.
3.
In La Tale similar to the Minstrel only you can't play instruments outside of the class and I don't think you could freely play instruments within the class. They were tied down to skills(could use them in town).
We should borrow some of those ideas. Here are some of mine, but this is more so an addition to Construction. I guess we can say the Music skill will utilize the skill.
1.
Playable instruments within your POH.
Example: Clicking on a piano and entering playing mode with an interface kinda similar to the Snake Charm only a piano and others can hear the tunes and you can save presets and such to play different tunes for others when they arrive. You would need a certain Music level for each instrument to be played, but Construction allows to build it.
2.
POH have a Music room.
3.
You can create music sheets and maybe write your own and use them on an instrument to add them to that instrument. You lose the music sheet and have to make a new on
