I notice that setting a target level or xp on a skill (to make it show the percentage instead of normal) makes it add the target xp left etc. like any other skill. But it doesn't seem to display where it's originating from?

So you can see what's from current till end, what the end is, but not what the start is (where it's displaying the percentage for)?

Perhaps it would be a good idea to add a display of starting xp when a goal is set (to the current value when starting a goal)? That way you can see what it's displaying the percentage for.

Say you are at lvl 10(say at 50k xp currently, just a number), set the goal to lvl 20 and start training. Then when you look at your skill overlay (displaying the next lvl xp etc.), it will say the goal was set at 50k xp in this example. So you know what the percentage actually means, instead of having to remember it yourself for all goals set?

If the start (when the goal is set) is saved and displayed, you'll at least have an idea what the percentage actually means (like 34% trained from lvls 30-50).

If it's set for a level, 0% is the start of the level when you set the counter.
If you set a milestone for Ranged for level 20, and you're halfway between 13 and 14, then the xp of reaching level 13 is 0% and the xp of reaching level 20 is 100%. The few percent it will show is the xp you already got after reaching level 13.

Well, the main issue is that you can't see what the starting point was when having a goal set.
So you can't see what the percentage means. The only thing you know is that it's between some starting point you've set (but unknown what that was) and the goal lvl or xp.

A good addition would be to at least add the starting XP or starting XP and lvl? That would make the way more clear what the percentage actually means.

Say you're training a skill from 80-99. If you set a goal at 80 and start training, the percentage will increase, as will the remaining XP (which would probably be rounded down). So there's no way to actually determine what range of XP or lvls the percentage actually applies to after it's set once you start training. You'll need to keep manual notes of the starting xp to properly keep track of that, which shouldn't be the case?

Say you walk into a bar and say you want 5% of what you usually have. If you don't know what you usually have (or anything that the 5% applies to) it's essentially meaningless. Same with goals that you've set. If you don't know the starting point of the goal, the end goal might be clear, but the percentage itself becomes meaningless essentially. It tells exactly nothing without the starting point (and you can only calculate it manually maybe, up to 1% accuracy if using a calculator, which defeats the whole thing in the first place.

Say you take a car from your home to work. If you say you're halfway (50%) there, unless you know you came from your home it's meaningless, as required context is lost for the 50% to apply to. 50% from your house or 50% from your friends house or somewhere else makes a big difference when it comes to numbers.

If the level goal percentage is working different (as in using the level xp when set) from the xp goal 0%, then simply display the 0% level, otherwise the 0% xp. Doing so would make the actual percentage make sense, if you want to know how far you've actually progressed so far...

And since the 0% lvl or xp must already be stored to actually calculate the percentage, it's probably not anything else than a simple code update on the runescape client or server that calculates the percentage to also return the base xp or lvl to display?
