it also wont work with many quests. the lore is the avatar we play is a human, so many quests wouldnt work if we were now suddenly a troll or an ork or an elf etc
not to mention the insane amount of remodelling would need to be done. this one would take a huge amount of time and 2 would create so many bugs in game.
with all that work would all that work be worth it so we can be an elf? no it wont
they were thinking of doing this back in 2002 iirc. but with us being able to be a demon, (at that time it was just red skin). but they decided against it.
i wouldnt mind being a demon, but it really wont work with quests and everything i have said
The idea of being to play as something else besides a human is fun indeed. It's something I wished for too when I started RS over 20 years ago, so you're not the only one.
Many other MMORPG's have this feature.
On the oher hand, over the years, RS has evolved into a MMORPG that has been focused on humans being the playable character. All the lore, all the quests, all the weapons and armour. A lot of items and features are based around humans.
I cannot see a dragon or a spider use a thread and needle to make some leather armour.
Human-shape based creatures (orcs, goblins, elves, gnomes,...) can do it though.
Creatures like stone giants can be strong for cutting/destroying trees for wood. But anything related to water can be dangerous for them.
Ents (or plant/woodlike creatures) might be stronger for farming, but making a fire with firemaking can be tricky for them.
All can be tweeked so it could work. But the entire game itself must be reworked to be able to do it.
As the other have said already, it's twenty years of updates too late for that now.
