Just to be explicit about what people are referring to:
The majority of the game it has only been 28 slots. For activities like Runecrafting in particular, being able to carry 32 items would drastically speed up XP/hr. This devalues previous achievements.
Additionally, there are bosses whose difficulty is more-or-less just barely achievable with a perfect inventory ratio of potions, food, etc. As such, you are directly making these bosses easier.
But in response to the XP/hr argument, it's worth pointing out that XP/hr in RS3 has already been changed many times. For example, the introduction of the Elite skilling outfits, the addition of rune essence pouches, the addition of Summoning and the Abyssal familiars, the addition of clan citadels, the addition of pulse cores, the addition of the abyss....There are a ton of ways that previous achievements have been devalued. It's just something that happens as games go through the usual power creep.
And on the second one, I mean let's be honest. GWD 1 bosses were hard, once upon a time. With our modern gear that is very much not the case. So sure, it will make 2000% enrage Telos and Zamorak easier, but eventually that will happen anyway for one reason or another.
So yeah. I don't think there's actually a very robust reason why this can't happen.
But is OCD a good reason for it to happen? I'm not entirely convinced. I think 4x7 is kind of nice honestly. 7 is a cool number.
Your OCD would hate my interface setup. I currently have 2 rows with 10 and 1 row with 8 for my inventory.
