I have come up with a good idea of how the MQC Lore Book Drops could be obtained, how about as well as the option of having to kill the same monster over and over until you get the drop (which, let's be honest, having this as the only option is just needless padding, killing monsters because you want to is fun but if you are getting a book drop there should be a more interesting and challenging way that garuntees the book drop), there is also an option (after killing about 300 of the ordinary version of the monster) of an underground dungeon with puzzles, challenges, a few monsters around to keep you on your toes, and at the end, a stronger version of the ordinary version of the monster (that you can choose to keep killing until the book if you want), defeating this stronger version would get you the book 100% (since it's harder)

I'm open to ideas but I just personally think making MQC lore drops based more on skill than luck would be cool, after all you'd think a Master Quest cape would have you go on an exciting challenging adventure to definitely get these lore drops, feel free to post your thoughts :)

Support, sounds good.

After this thread, I'm not sure what is up with the Abyssal Lords having a key (needed for comp) that you need to be lucky enough to get while not having an option like this. The fact that despite this thread, they didn't wait til having an idea like this before bringing a luck based comp req in suggests they are just not listening sometimes (and I have already put in the effort and poured numerous hours in to killing Abyssal Lords, I just think a better design for those who have already put in plenty of effort would be nice)

Honestly (And I only mean this in a constructive criticism way) please just listen (I'm not even expecting an update like this to make it in to game fast, just to hold off on more RNG drops needed for cape until an update of this nature can be done) not much to ask is it? You guys have the potential to make some Great content (And I've seen it, I was impressed with the boss fights in the Extinction quest and this week's quest - some really inventive mechanics used so I know you have got it :) )

I suppose visually it’d help out, you’d be able to target the drop bearing mob.

But bad luck mitigation is already a thing, specifically designed to counter a lack of drops. You’d just be adding a harder fight, after a player is already bored and fatigued from killing so many standard enemies.

If these stronger enemies were an optional randomised chance, like the elite slayer creatures that pop up I think that could work. Just don’t have them after killing like 1k regular mobs or whatever.
Check out Thieves guild layout redesign. Happy ‘scaping

Generally - if it's fairly rare it shouldn't be as rare for higher levelled thematically fitting creatures.

If it's only available from a difficult boss fight, it could be available rarely from weaker similiar enemies (like the magister books).

If it's rare and can't be reasonably distributed elsewhere it should use some bad luck protection. ED1-3 sorta have the issue, that story mode - as the mode intended to obtain the lore books - has better base odds, but no kind of bad luck protection - and isn't even offering token loot akin to ED4 - might both be something that could be changed for that matter.

Generally you should obtain that stuff eventually - if you're unlucky it's fine it takes longer - but you should just get better odds over time. Players certainly should work for that stuff though.
Improvements: Tooltip / (F2P) QoL v2
Quick Fixes: Invention

Yeah I agree with the fact that some work needs to go in to get the stuff at least, and once I have got the drop, I can see Abyssal Lords being something I come back to sometimes for the challenge - they are a fun challenge to fight against :) I'll no doubt be back at them again sometime this week

Post I made in August last year since it won't let me quote it -

And yet despite this post, Jagex decide early 2023 adding some MQC reqs (that are RNG) is a good idea - not immediately listening to an idea can be a bit understandable when you are busy with other large scale updates, but when you go a straight 180 on something that has been requested (in this case, holding off on adding more RNG based drops to a cape til you think of a more Skill-Based, and less Luck-Based, way to get the drops) is something that I do not get :/

the crystal shapeshifter ring took me close to 1200 kills
rippers were about 800 or just over for the 5 books
i forget what the addy drags were might of been 650 or something
some eds took like 7 runs to second boss

best to do the monsters outside of eds during slayer, i havent done the ed4 reqs yet but upon reading i think the book is guaranteed drop from a miniboss?

all the pvm reqs are easy once you finished the slayer codex you know more about bad rng lol
