just wanted to take a moment to THANK Jagex for the awesome experience with the Gold Partyhat. My friends and I have been on discord having a blast running around together, gathering shards. Racing to see who could get it first. We've been doing different Bosses, Skills and my favorite, quest.

It's been a blast. I've been playing this game for roughly 20 years, Using different accounts such as Pures, Skillers, Etc. This was 100% a great idea and have yet to see someone whose not enjoying it!

Much love from U.S.A - Ezle

I feel the same way, I remember back in 2009 when I first became mem (after over a yr of being F2P) wanting to buy a purple party hat as it was the cheapest one costing around 60M and I only had 40M, as I saved up, the hat price started going higher and higher, and I was never able to buy it haha, it was unreachable. Once I saw an email that said a tradable limited time party hat I decided it was time to come back to RS. So happy they did this I have my gold phat now. :D

Not to ruin anyone's joy or anything but you enjoyed spending 4+ hours grinding for each shard? I hated this event with a passion, unfortunately. I did get my hat but it burned me out majorly. I don't have any desire to do any skilling for at least a month, maybe longer. ~

if 4 hours of skilling in different skills burns you out then you are going to have issues playing Runescape lmao

glad to see this thread, because I am very happy with the event (and my hat!) too.

I was a bit skeptical that I could attain one, even in the time allowed, because I do not boss, am not particularly fond of clues, and never do Yak Track on purpose.

I have a max cape, and it took me 15 years, with most of my dungeoneering on penguin points. If it weren't for strange/golden rocks, I doubt I'd have the cape yet, but that activity made me train things I would normally slough off. I only do quests to get the unlocks.

The skilling was the easy part for me (got my gathering rock just mucking out a dragon pen at the farm--lol), but I was particularly happy to see the multiple tracks on Yak Track: easy tasks that had me at level 9 before I said "hey, maybe I can get this shard!"

Last night, after getting my yak shard for #7, started plowing through the dozens of clue scrolls that have piled up in my bank over the years, and am delighted to say about 10 clues in, was able to complete my prize. I was afraid I'd have to bite the bullet and buy one, but no!

Kudos to having an event that wasn't solely buying a package, slogging through a pile of large tasks, and so on, with a wonderful prize that is a boon to all of us who were noobs when p-hats were already getting prohibitive. I am one of those who skilled and sold like mad to earn the money to buy my santa, back when they were "only" $30M. It is a lot of fun to watch people pull out their holiday finery and top it with a golden crown!

If you see a 138 twirling her candy cane in a santa suit while crowned, say hi!

signed, a very happy 64 year old granny with a fine new hat :)

It took me around 30 hours total to get the stupid thing. RS has always had a grind but it was never the core of the game. It always felt like a means to an end while new content felt like it had real substance. Now, all Jagex does is throw uninspired grindfests at us, without any substance to back it up, and it's ridiculous.
