My new favourite song HAS to be Bird of Prey from The World Wakes quest. I loved it while bossing, it got me fired up and ready to defeat Kree'arra, and I absolutely LOVE it when I'm playing clan events or doing Pyramid Plunder. I also really like Violinsanity, that's fast paced and amazing.

On the other hand, I do really love Memories of Guthix. You got me to cry on a quest, not an easy feat, but I sobbed like a little girl, and I'm currently "mourning" Guthix.

Music is now an integral part of my RuneScape day, and if the new, amazing songs continue, it will be for years to come.

Thank you.

Prior to The World Wakes, I can openly admit I've only ever had a tear drawn to my eye from one other game (I doubt any have even heard of it, so it's not even worth mentioning).

But...my god. Guthix. The entire ending with Guthix's emotional romp around his destroyed homeworld, revealing his secrets and laying everything on us in the end was just an absolutely gorgeous ending.

And then...what is it that comes through my headphones?

A bagpipe opening, and one of the most BEAUTIFUL violin ensembles that I have ever heard. I knew the moment I heard "Memories of Guthix" that the events to come were going to be very emotional. The song just captured everything that is both sad and beautiful about the events of The World Wakes, and is honestly a song I would love to hear outside of the game.

Of course, by the end of all those scenes, and with the song having looped 3-4 times by then...what was this feeling in my eyes? It was tears. I would never have thought RuneScape would be the only other game in history that impacted me enough to actually bring tears to my eyes. Luckily, I was alone at this time, but being heckled over shedding a tear over a game was the least of my worries at the time (after all, I just witnessed something I never thought possible).

People may ask "why do you play RuneScape?" or "why have you played it for so long?"; The World Wakes, and something as perfect as the song "Memories of Guthix" is my answer.

I have always enjoyed the game's music, no secret about that (look at how many posts on this thread alone I've made!). However, things were just taken to a whole new level with one song alone. I am humbled beyond words at 'Memories of Guthix', and whoever was brilliant enough to compose the piece has nothing short of every ounce of respect I can offer.

I truly thank you, Jagex.

EDIT: I feel it should be noted that the other 12 songs from TWW were quite great as well. Simply mentioning one would not be fair!

I think you're mistaking bagpipes for a cello at the start there, haha. Such a beautiful piece though. It also brought a couple tears to my eye as well. :') So much so that I am transcribing it for piano haha.

Jagex's audio team worked with television and video game composer James Hannigan to write Memories of Guthix and it was performed by the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra. :)

Thankfully my audio settings and best speakers were on when I heard Memories of Guthix at the end of the quest.

WOAAAH.... just WOAAAH

The epicness of RuneScape in one soundtrack.

Excellent orchestral work, excellent recording. I believe the first soundtrack of this scale for RuneScape? (hopefully not the last, was WELL worth it :) )

Piano will be missing those juicy rich strings, but worth a shot ;)

Memories of Guthix has to be, by far, the best song in runescape ever! (besides maybe scape main :P )
It is a beautifully orchestrated piece and went with the story very well. This is one of the few songs from runescape that I would actually listen to as a standalone piece.

Well, I still have great affection for the old songs, though a few of the new ones are favorites, too.

As for the music released in 'The World Wakes', some of it is ... all right. Some is rather forgettable compared to their equivalents in previous quests.

But 'Memories of Guthix' is brilliant. It's very moving and emotional, coming at one of the most emotional moments ever in the history of RuneScape: The bittersweet moment where we finally meet Guthix and learn of his tragic past.

Seriously, that moment alone is worth doing the quest for. The whole thing made me feel very teary. And the music greatly enhanced the moment.

When describing RuneScape music, I often describe how each track 'speaks' to me. And here I'll do it with Memories of Guthix.

Memories of Guthix: Speaks of a long, long history, and much tragedy. It fills us with a sense of loss and sadness for people and places now long gone. It also speaks of wishing that we learn the lessons of the past so that such tragedies do not happen again.
