Bonds is just an example that inflation is heavy and exists, because bonds which are bought for real money, is good at reflecting that.

What you don't see is, a limited, low volume item can be priced at anything. Cracker is a good example, they can go for anything a player is willing to pay

Now, players can always make gold to purchase these items, but there will never enter more supply of this item into the game, actually, the supply will just get lower and lower overtime, as it has been for decades now, this is also another reason why the prices are so high

I'd say a lot of party hats were lost on staking accounts who RWT... The supply is just too low now and money too easy to make.

This is the reality you need to realise

You are telling me to realize things. Interesting, because without you I surely wouldn't know that.

Oh and btw read my signature. The violet one.

Everything, ranging from sub-atomic particles to galaxy clusters, has its dynamics predefined. And then there are people claiming that systems like economy, society or other human sub-systems are in our hands.

I also see this cutting back on price manipulation and possibly cutting down on the small community that keeps trading the same items back and forth, setting the prices how they like. Will it fix anything? I personally don't think so. I think Party Hats and other high end gear will remain expensive since some people wont sell for lower than the street market on the G.E....BUT desperation might set. People might refuse to buy on the street and only through G.E which will eventually cause people to sell on G.E. Not entirely but definitely more than they are now (They aren't at all currently with the max cash limit). As the G.E tracks prices, people will watch.

I see the market settling, right now we are in a state of uncertainty. Rare items will remain rare items, they might dip a bit but will always come back, through manipulation or not, it'll happen.
Time will tell if this will even have any impact at all. I'm personally on the boat that it is too late to curve this inflation, better to be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised, than optimistic and let down. That's how I go about all of Jagex's updates!

Check it out!

i dont know why they created any item that can only be traded from player to player,

i agree this is where price manipulation accures,, the small group that trades the same items back and forth under predetermined agreement scheduals, needs to be halted, and if jagex does this max gold and make all items tradedable on the ge,,, it will stop, yes the eco will be messed up for a while but items will eventually settle down and staiblize and show the true value of a item instead of a price manipulation

i think the ones who price manipuate will be the loudest to complain

I think it's a little more complicated than simply "a few people trading hats back and forth" tbh, but I totally understand the frustration - lots of inequality and wealth hoarding within the game.

i think, in many ways, the mixed economy in RS is similar to, perhaps, other economies that exist - and in saying that, the current massive divide is quite similar to the massive economic inequality that exists in places like north america.

some ppl play for 6-10 hours/day, and have quite a profitable time doing it - there are players who have enough cash to affect the prices of popular items by buying them up at mid and selling them higher when demand surges due to unavailability at mid etc. etc.

I don't think people expected, honestly, to be playing this game for 5-10-15-20 years, and if you've been playing that long, consistently, and grinding (as many do) you inevitably accrue sizeable wealth - and at this point it would be really difficult to balance the economy again in a way that is honestly fair and equitable to all parties - and i think jagex has some responsibility for "gaming addiction" - whether its the simply escapism or the mtx, though they are only a company trying to make money like every other...

tbh i do wish that things were more accessible for some of us casuals who only play, on average, 5-10 hours per week, but then that wouldn't be fair to those faithful souls who grind 40-50 hours/week here in some ways, so its a tough one for sure

personally, I think that while the max cash increase will cut down on luring/scamming/generally having to congregate in W2 - I think that the OG rares (phats in particular) will still largely remain out of the hands of the many - barring a re release.

Many players here derive most of their pleasure from flipping/merching, and will have more cash to poor into rares more easily, so the end result, I think, will be largely the same as it is - price-wise anyway
