Some paraphrased quotes by Jmods in the video

Time ~33:09
"Around the time i started at Runescape ~12 years ago, partyhats were an important aspiration for people, they were part of the games ecosystem, 'im going to save up for one', that's died off now because partyhats have become a playground for merchers instead, they're no longer an aspirational thing because prices go up faster than you can afford them, that feels like something is gone from Runescape. I don't think we need a play thing for merchers."
*Jmod notes this is his personal opinion

Time ~33:48
Another quote regarding ge update-max cash update-rare listings
"If we dont change anything else, with the players control over the market, its unlikely people will be in a rush to sell them on the ge"

Runescapes youtube channel video titled "Let's chat about the economy, death costs and inflation in RuneScape"
uploaded July 15, 2022

How I see rares changing
1. "Rares" will return to being a reasonable 'aspiration' for players.
2. Rares will no longer be heavily controlled by a few players as it has been in the past.

For these to happen , rares will by definition, be worth 'less' (in some way) than they currently are.
Which means more players will have reach, will obtain, and trade them more frequently .

Lastly, i know some players dont want them to change it, but my answer to that is, these past updates

pvp-wild-trade restrictions
MTX
EoC
Games of chance
Duel Arena

last quote,
Time ~32:31
"Looking at partyhats is a slightly separate problem , they will be tradeable on the ge as well, because of their supply and demand, their price has become inflated, we're going to be looking at them in particular in deciding what to do with them ."

Summary, old rares pre 2012, will not be the same in the future , max cash update is just the start, ge update as well, and most likely a specific update is coming directly for these old rares .

I hope Jagex does not intentionally crash the rare market. That would be so disappointing to see some of the the most legendary items in gaming history devalued

This jmod has no clue that 90% of merchers trades are with non merchers or else they wouldnt be making gp.

High end bossing makes up to 250m an hr so players can make 1b a day making it less than 2 months of play to get a phat.

Iv tested merching lowers and netted over 1b+ most days...phats legit take 2 months of work to get.
I'm blue daba dee daba die!

Investing in rares for a better tomorrow.

Ya Blue... They said that the party hats are a "problem" and they are going to look into fixing the problem on that one livestream a while back... Just sad though. They were NEVER easy to get and the average player could NEVER "achieve it as a goal". Their prices have ALWAYS been through the roof. Always. My first was Red for 3m and that was an absolute fortune back then... No average player could "save up" that kind of money.

Anyway as you can see by the trends, (Green Santa & Prup Ween), they do NOT like discontinued items in RS. I'm sure those will be rereleased. I believe in OSRS there are no items that are discontinued... Period.

I could not believe they were rereleasing the old H'ween items like Eek the Spider and other items from back in 2009 this year.

It will be really sad when Bunny Ears are rereleased from 2003.

Anyway, I would expect phats to be rereleased one day for their "solution" or they will just have some NPC hand them out.

You are not aloud to have any "unique" holiday items from the past. All players must have them now. It doesn't matter if you started yesterday or you picked them up off the ground on the exact holiday that they were dropped. Nobody may stand out with unique collectables from the past.

Jagex is just making new rares, they know they cant touch the classic rares.
Green santa and purple ween wont come back i think. They say it might but i think they say that just to deter merchants to some extend. A different santa hat this year. Maybe a blue one or a golden one (golden could be nice). If green santa doesnt return this year then we might have some indication about what will happen to these items in future.

Purple haloween looks great. Its easily the best looking of all the new rares, much better then green santa.

Anyway:would be nice to have the limit be removed and the waiting is a bit frustrating. They havent given any updates around the update either so i would not be surprised if it takes another 6 months or more.

yeah I'd like to think jagex wouldn't just re-release the green santa and purple ween every event but would instead at least do different colors if not make new rares....but jagex has done a lot of questionable things so who knows lol

im interested to see how just raising max cash effects things. rember mint cakes an item that for all logic was worthless and common enough that everyone would have a few but rare enough that those with max cash used them to store chunks of thier wealth and would trade those instead of cash. when suddenly jagex made this item that was worthless more common in for a few weeks blew up the economy such a minor change.

with the new limit no one will want to store thier wealth in items like this. and thus we will avoid any future events like that. but due to this i think we will see the value of some of these items crash as people dont feel the need to hoard them.

at the same time it will make buying real rares far easier no meeting up to do trades of 1 billion mint cakes. or having to wait to buy that many cakes. those that want to just own all the rares so other cant will run rampit. thus could cause a spike in value of rares. but again there will be some people dumping their rares so they can brag about having the largest cash stack. feel like the first year after this rares will go up and down alot and settle around where they are now(mostly over current max cash) but its really hard to predict.

in the end this is very good for the economy of the game. as it helps limit how much one person/clan can do to manipulate it. there will always still be ways but i think this will help in the long run. the one coin flip i see that could go bad or good is with rwters this could easily hurt them alot but could also help them depending on how they are able to cope with the change
