Is this the final blow to th "rares"? Honestly do people even care about the cosmetic shit they put in there if it's tradable anyway? Do people actually unironically spin to get the "cool cosmetics" when they can just get for cheaper in ge?
I don't know why jagex even bothers releasing cosmetics through treasure hunter, seems like dev time better spent elsewhere...
Maybe start releasing untradeable stuff? Idk just find it hard to believe these promos even have that much engagement. Maybe they'll just cut on dev time and start re-releasing everything i guess they don't lose anything with that.
I don't really even have any walks but its been a fun ride boys, back to the good old boring discontinued items
Truth is the community thinks merchers are a terrorist group that sells children for money.
They don't want the rerelease because they like the unlock.
As long as Jagex does not reintroduce the walks in token form, which they won't, I'm not too concerned. I personally think that merchers will use this opportunity to adapt their investment strategies and redefine the token market as, more likely than not, rare tokens continue to become more and more rare just like any other discontinued items from the edibles category i.e. accidental consumption, destruction, accounts with the tokens either getting locked or players retiring. Overall, this rare token dump is actually a great opportunity for those looking to get into the long-term merching game, especially those coming back into the game.
**Disclosure: Everything I just wrote is 100% my own opinion. It is not definitive, nor is it an attempt to manipulate anything. please do not base your investing strategy on my statements above, I could absolutely be wrong.

Basically what you're saying is even if jagex releases walks through the oddments store they won't be in token form and are likely to be untradeable, pushing up the value of real tokens overtime as they get consumed or destroyed.

Exactly. To keep things into perspective, I am willing to bet that only a small fraction, easily less than 5% of traded rare tokens, actually become consumed anyways. Most of these tokens are exchanged between merchers. So, if there's a price crash it certainly won't be because end consumers have opted to unlock a rare token via the oddiment store rather than paying a 2 - 11 bil price tag.

Tbh any real demand they did have has just died with this announcement. Everything is artificial now. Too risky to hold rare junk essentially imo but everyone has their own view.
