Friendly reminder to check out this thread to avoid falling victim to manipulation:


Beware Price Manipulation

- Investigate accounts that people claim to trade with, be cautious if the RuneScape account seems to be inactive for the last few months or appears to be an alt.

- Check a person's post history to see if they only list their sales and not buys or vice versa. Their post history will show their intentions very clearly. If they only list sales, they are trying to increase prices. If they only list buys, they are trying to decrease prices.

- Sometimes, people inflate their sales by overpricing an item involved in the trade.

- Sometimes, people post ranges for their benefit and don't reflect the recent trades.

- Some users will change their forums examination message to claim they are accurate price checkers, this falls in a grey area, and Forum Moderators are unable to take action, be aware that some of these are false. They may even mention this in their post to try and deceive people.

- If a post looks suspicious, for example, failing to mention second parties, screenshots, or prices that seem wildly inaccurate compared to recent trades within the thread, be very cautious.

- People who manipulate and use false ranges usually appear off in-game and are never online to answer any queries about their price range list.

- Research the ranges advertised to see if they include actual recent trades within the thread.

- Look for reports verified by both parties involved with the transactions.


It's a team effort to keep the community safe since the Forum Moderators or Jagex Moderators can't do anything about it.

ive a question regarding your prices, could you provide intel on the high end of bsh and green partyhat over the past week. ive seen some trades for bsh around 25-26b but not for 29b as an example, also when the ge updates will you keep up with the price checks?. trusting certain pc lists or prices of items or websites that dont belong to jagex will get you into trouble notice: external websites and trades are your responsibility, dont get fooled!.

To answer a few questions on the range above:

1) How does the white range go from 90-120 to 85-120 when tranquility sold the last one for 110?

Answer: Partyhat values are often derived from implied ranges and known cash trades. R/W is calculated as 25-45, and the Red values we used were 60-78. I sold a Red Partyhat yesterday as I reported already for 75b; that would imply a 120b White at max assumption. Also, remember that not everyone has posted publicly for various reasons, including Competitive, Privacy, Anti-Harassment, or Others.

Solution: Using an extensive list of weekly contributors helps address those issues.


2) I have a question regarding your prices. Could you provide intel on the high end of bsh and green partyhat over the past week? As an example, I've seen some trades for bsh around 25-26b but not for 29b. Also, when the ge updates, will you keep up with the price checks?

Answer: The 29 high is to allow for some potential outliers as well as the 24 low. I'd still expect most trades to be made within a smaller 25-27 range, but having a 2B range on a 25B item for a week does not allow for almost any volatility, and it might be irrelevant by next week's post.

GE Update: Not much is known right now, but I would handle that the same way I would take the existing discontinued items in the GE.
