It's pretty simple if they are failing to meet their revenue quota and regular TH is not doing it anymore (releasing quasi rares). It's possible they release BSH/Scythe to give a boost to their revenue and keep Carlyle Group happy. They are pretty limited on OSRS besides increasing subscriptions so RS3 TH is really the only thing they can stretch where addicts fomo in :O . I feel like many players still don't understand that Jagex has completely changed it's not the same company we knew as kids. Jagex executives need to keep Carlyle Group happy to keep their jobs which they do by increasing earnings and giving the false impression that the game is growing. they will throw rare holders under the bus just as they did to players who paid billions for tokens if it helps them keep their jobs lmao.

^ I don't by it that it's to keep Carlyle Group happy. First off they completely ripped off Carlyle Group by Carlyle not completely understanding that 3/4 rs accounts are the same person and are 80% of the remaining are bots leaving about 700 people that actually play the game.

This would also mean that Jagex actually has done a great job in the past which we all know they've done nothing but screw up a great game from 07 on (hence the duel game outcome we have today, the shit show grew from there, which game do I play??? ). Treasure hunter is really all they have left because Hype is gone. They've ruined XP and we have a bunch of other things that aren't worth doing and even if you want to GL having the money to buy the things really required to do them. The game itself is in a bad place but this was forecasted by the players when the GE was introduced. They have their work cut out for them, don't blame it on a company that bought this bad code for 500m bucks.

Nothing like putting short term profits over long term profits. If they rerelease BSH, or other decade old rares, I truly believe it will be a sharp downfall for the game and company as a whole. First we see RS3 players lose faith in Jagex, and their "Rare" items on MTX. RS3's numbers crashing would probably result in the parent company putting more pressure on OSRS to monetize the game which obviously would not go over well with the OSRS community or the staff who play the game, leading to mass resignation/Falador riots.

Maybe I'm exaggerating here, but consider I'm not. Rereleasing "rares" IMO is a lazy way to monetize. Literally all they have to do is go into microsoft paint /s and recolor the black phat blue and boom, there is the new record MTX promo. Creating new, desirable, high quality, discontinued/*rare* items consistently takes away market cap of other high end rares and redistributes it into the broader market. In turn, releasing new disc. items lowers the cost of existing disc items, while providing a hedge for players who don't own older disc. items to save up if they wish.

BSH rerelease, players would lose faith in all "rare"/discontinued items, and hence every future Treasure hunter promo. Jagex has shot themselves in the foot many times, but a rerelease of decade old rares would be the equivalent of jumping on a landmine.

P.S. If Jagex is in need of a MTX specialist/director for hire, HMU, I am the MTX posterchild after all, I've got some simple BIG $$$ ideas.

Carlyle acquired jagex because they wanted exposure to the gaming industry that was booming during covid and being a firm that's focused on private equity they went for jagex most gaming companies are publicly traded. Now with the covid boom over gaming revenues on the decline, I wonder if they sell jagex which is going to be difficult as private equity will be repriced in a world of higher interest rates. when they bought it, they probably weren't sure how long covid would last I bet it seemed like the best decision at the time which was true as Jagex reported record profits.

MTX goes into overdrive :P

Jan 25, 2021 · The Carlyle Group Acquires Jagex

Sep/2021 - 7x rainbow items rainbow token market crashes.

Oct/2021 - Zombie walk re-released.

Nov/2021 - Golden party hat released.

Dec/2021- GSH/Gift scythe released.

May/2022 - Gem tokens re-released.

Jun/2022 - Plague walk re-released.

Jul/2022 - assassins walk re-released.

Oct/2022 - Purple Hween mask released.

Dec/2022 - Aurora Dye released.

This is just a small list but if you go look at the charts of majority of tokens, they all crashed after jagex was taken over, the thinking behind MTX/TH definitely changed likely due to push for more $$.

:D
Because Carlyle found what what they actually bought which was a gambling website so they shut down the dueling arena and had to figure a way to make money for their investors somehow.

It doesn't seem to effect OG rares anyway because they just manipulate Wiki and redit.

Is that an "Official" confirmed list of Discontinued items by Jagex? From my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong here Tuffty, Forum Moderators are Players just like RS Wiki admins, not employees of Jagex, so unless explicitly confirmed by Jagex, that directory could potentially be inaccurate as well.

Every thing thats discontiniued within that list has been confirmed over the year by Jagex as Discontinied. Hence the F-Mod made list thats been used for years by the Community to keep track of where items belong etc.

When We or the Community find out something has been confirmed a discontinued item it's added to the list so everyone knows.

Hope that helps.

Well no its not the seasons items have been rereleased despite having the items there in the discontinued section. Thought I might bump this.

i dumped all th rares after i noticed how frequent they releasing them. it was best decision. i managed to get rid of assassin walks, diamond suit tokens for good price, they got released and crashed 50-70% since i sold them. i predicted season items will be on their rerelease list, i had 15b parked on season items, i got rid of them after max cash rework, like i thought it got rereleased.
here is my next prediction, which ever th items has high value will be released in coming weeks/months. merchers/investers stay away from th items. only reason these item has high value because we buy and hold them as investment, and jagex has lost that trust.

With regards to holly wreath / scythe / turkeys:

Turkeys may have been re-introduced because they were extremely hoarded. Not to mention that one of the largest holders (who had 2.5k - 3k out of total supply of 25k including 2k+ out of 12.5k of one type) bought them by RWT (they had quit RS and sold everything but decided to buy some back specifically to buy turkeys)

Don't want to speculate too heavily here, but wreath and scythe may be safe if the above is the only reason turkeys were re-introduced.

Its kinda funny when forum mods point towards a discontinued item list and you go check it out just to see:
"Discontinued ..... Cloak of Seasons, Crown of Seasons, Pet of Seasons token."
O_o

So apparently by this logic all discontinued items can be rereleased.

I think we do need some more clarification... Support!

I am discontinued although i rerelease myself every day! :P
